국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교육기관의 설립 유형에 따른 영유아교사의 근무환경 실태를 알아보기 위하여, 국․공립 유치원, 사립 유치원, 국․공립 보육시설, 민간․가정 보육시설에서 근무하는 영유아교사를 대상으로 하루평균 수업시간과 하루평균 근무시간, 일주일 평균 근무일수, 평균연봉을 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 유치원 교사의 수업시간에 비해 보육시설 교사의 수업시간 수가 더 많았고, 국․공립 유치원 교사를 제외한 사립 유치원 교사와 보육시설 교사의 대부분이 초과 근무하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 유치원과 보육시설의 교사 대부분이 6일 근무를 하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 국․공립 유치원 교사를 제외한다면, 사립 유치원과 보육시설에 근무하는 영유아교사들의 봉급은 심각하게 낮은 수준인 것을 알 수 있었다. 유치원과 어린이집을 통합하여 영유아교사의 근무환경 실태를 조사한 본 연구의 결과는 현 근무환경에 대한 올바른 인식을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 앞으로의 개선 방향에 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the current working condition of early childhood educators who were working in different early childhood programs(public and priviate kindergartens, and public and private day care centers) in terms of time spent on working with children per day, time spent on working in the programs per day, days spent on working in the programs per week, and their annual salary. The result of this study showed that early childhood educators in public and private day care centers spent more time on working with children per day and that educators in private kindergartens and in public and private day care centers overworked and spent more time on working in the programs than educators in public kindergartens did. Also, the results showed that most of the educators in kindergartens and day care centers worked 6 days per week and that except the public kindergarten educators, the educators in private kindergartens and public and private day care centers earned very minimum salary for their work. The analysis of the working conditions of different programs suggests that Korean early childhood programs need to reduce teachers’ work hours and work days in the programs and to increase their annual income in order to provide high quality care and education for young children.
