국문 초록

  본 논문은 한국미술교육에 효과적이고 체계적인 미술비평교육의 도입을 위한 미술교육의 미술비평과 미술사 이론들과의 연관성을 입증하고 미술비평교육의 필요성과 의의를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 여러 미술교육학자들의 미술감상교육에 대한 연구들을 비교분석하고 근대 모더니즘의 미술감상교육과는 다른, 포스트모던 이론과 현대미술의 흐름에 맞는 새로운 미술비평교육을 소개하고 그 필요성을 제시한다. 실용주의적이며 인본주의적인 미술비평교육은 반응/인상, 서술/묘사, 해석, 평가의 단계적이고 체계적인 대화와 질문을 통하여 개인이 미술작품의 의미와 가치를 문화적 맥락에서 인간 삶의 본질과 경험으로 연관지어 이해하고 해석하도록 돕는다. 궁극적으로 미술비평교육은 미술과 삶, 작가와 관객, 개인과 타인에 대한 의사소통과 대화의 장을 마련함으로써 관객과 학생들에게 자신과 타인의 문화와 사회를 이해하고 현대를 함께 살아가는 세계시민으로서 자신과 남을 이해하고 포용하도록 돕는다. 미술비평교육은 미적 감수성과 비판적 감식력을 길러준다.

영문 초록

  This study aims to introduce effective and systematic educational art criticism for contemporary Korean art education and to prove the close relevancy of art education to theories of art criticism and art history for contemporary art education. Meanwhile several modernist art educators introduced theories and methods of art appreciation, those couldn"t be applied for Korean art education fully because contemporary discussions in art often reflect on the history of culture and political powers in society with the impact of the post-modern theories and increasingly global world and the multicultural community. Therefore, through the systematic processes of reaction/impression, description, contextual examination, interpretation, and evaluation, educational art criticism in pragmatism and humanism is effective for talking and writing about art and life in today"s Korean art classes. Educational Art criticism facilitates a sympathetic dialogue and promotes mutual understanding of art and society as well as human life. Educational art criticism can teach students to understand themselves and others and the nature of global and multicultural communities. This study informs three issues: 1) the close relationship among art education, artcriticism and art history, 2) theories of educational art criticism 3) a structure of educational art criticism. This approach would be useful for art students enabling them to see art as a form of ideas and cultures, and artistic practice as both visual and intellectual. Such students will have critical insights, sensitive eyes, and heightened cultural sensitivities. The lessons of art appreciation and criticism using the method of educational art criticism may be useful instructions for audience and students.
