朝鮮中期 道學詩와 生態學的 想像力

국문 초록

  본고는 우리의 고전문학에 내포되어 있는 생태주의적 관점을 구체적으로 제시하기 위한 작업의 일환으로 物我一體의 경지가 형상화되어 있는 徐敬德·李彦迪·李滉의 道學詩를 검토한 것이다. 특히 새로운 세계관과 인간관의 정립을 요구하는 생태주의적 입장에서 이들의 시에 나타난 자연물에 대한 묘사와 이를 배태한 사상, 그리고 인생태도를 집중적으로 분석 하였다.
  花潭은 생성과 소멸이라는 자연물의 변화를 중시하였고 그 轉化의 순간에 우주의 天機를 체득할 수 있다고 생각하였다. 그리고 天機를 체득하기 위해서는 개체적 자아를 초월한 無我의 경지에 도달해야 한다고 인식하였다. 그는 만물이 항상 변화한다고 생각하였기에 모든 사물에 대한 집착과 기대를 버리고 자신의 본성대로 자유롭게 살아가는 無慾의 삶이야말로 최선의 삶의 방식이라고 생각하였다. 그가 지녔던 逍遙의 인생 태도는 여기에서 비롯된 것이다.
  晦齋는 자연물에서 그 본성인 天眞을 주시하고 이를 체득함으로써 天理를 체인하고자 하였다. 이는 主理論的 世界觀에서 비롯된 것이다. 그는 심성수양에 있어서도 집착이나 조장을 버리고 자연스러운 마음을 지닐 것을 특별히 강조하였다. 자아가 개입하지 않는 무심한 마음이라야 자연물의 본성을 제대로 체득할 수 있다고 여긴 것이다. 회재는 天眞을 중시하는 자연관을 기반으로 하여 無爲라는 인생태도를 천명하였다. 무위의 인생태도는 무심한 마음으로 사물과 자신의 본성을 거스르지 않고 자연스럽게 살아가는 것을 핵심으로 삼는다. 자신의 본성을 따르는 삶이야말로 최선, 최적의 즐거운 삶이라고 지적한 것이다.
  退溪는 자연물에서 그 아름다움을 발견했다는 점이 특색이다. 이는 天理가 실현된 세계에 대한 긍정적, 낙관적 태도에서 비롯된 것이다. 그는 이러한 태도를 지녔기에 소박한 삶에서 충만한 즐거움을 찾는 樂天的인 인생태도를 표방하였다. 그는 자연물의 아름다움과 인생의 즐거움을 발견하는 방식을 전해준 것이다.
  花潭·晦齋·退溪의 시에 나타난 자연관과 인생태도는 자연관의 변화와 인간 주체의 각성이 요구되는 이 시대에 깊이 음미해야 할 부분이다. 특히 本性의 체인이라는 내적 초월을 통하여 우주 만물과 합일할 수 있다는 점을 보여주었다는 점에 주목할 필요가 있다. 화담 시에 나타난 쾌활함, 회재 시에 나타난 화락함, 그리고 퇴계 시에 나타난 낙천적 태도는 그러한 체험들의 진실성을 우리에게 깊이 각인시켜 준다.

영문 초록

  This paper, as one of work for concretely proposing a biological viewpoint contained in our classical literature, examined the poems of Seo Gyeong-deok·Lee Ueon-jeok·Lee Hwang in which a state of Mulailchi(物我一體) is represented in a concrete shape.
  Hwadam(花潭) laid importance on a change of a natural object named generation and extinction, and thought one can realize Cheongi(天機), the principle of the universe at the instant of such a change. And to realize such Cheongi, he realized that one should reach the state of Mua(無我) that transcended private self. Thinking all things are to change all the time, he got to have an attitude of Soyo(逍遙) in which preoccupation with and expectation of an object is thrown away and a free life according to one"s real nature is pursued.
  Hoijae(晦齋) tried to realize Cheonri(天理) by carefully watching simplicity(天眞) from a natural object, its real nature and by learning it from experience, as was originated from the world-view of Juriron(主理論). Even in cultivation of the mind, he specially emphasized giving up preoccupation or promotion and possessing natural mind. Hoijae laid stress on simplicity, so he declared a living attitude of Muwi(無爲) in which all the artificial acts or artificiality is excluded and a natural life according to real nature is pursued.
  Toigye(退溪) is characterized by the fact that he discovered beauty from a natural object. This was originated from his optimistic attitude toward the world in which Cheonri(天理) was realized. Because he assumes such an attitude, he showed an optimistic life attitude of looking for pleasure from a simple life. He teaches us a method of finding beauty of a natural object and pleasure of a life.
  The view on nature and mental and a life attitude showed by Hwadam·Hoijae· Toigye"s poems need to be reviewed today. Especially, it is notable that they showed the possibility able to uniting with the universe through internal transcendence of learning real nature from experience. The liveliness represented in Hwadam"s poems, the peace and harmony showed in Hoijae"s and the optimistic attitude showed in Toigye"s teach us clearly the truth of such experiences.
