국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국내외 창작 그림책에 나타난 어머니 등장인물의 특성을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내외에서 출판되고 있는 창작 그림책 중 어머니와 관련된 그림책 89권을 연구대상으로 선정하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 분석 대상으로 선정된 창작 그림책은 어머니를 평면적으로 표현하며 주변인으로 나타내고 있었다. 둘째, 어머니의 주된 등장 배경은 거주지(집)로 나타났다. 셋째, 창작 그림책에 나타난 어머니의 부모 행동 유형으로는 일상생활 활동이 가장 많이 나타났다. 넷째, 분석에 사용된 창작 그림책 대다수는 어머니의 갈등을 나타내지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 갈등을 나타낸 그림책은 모두 어머니 대 인물의 갈등을 표현하고, 갈등의 해결은 어머니가 아닌 그림책 내 다른 인물이 문제를 해결한 경우가 대부분인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 기초로 향후 창작 그림책에서 제시되어야 할 현대 사회 속 어머니의 모습과 역할에 대한 방향에 대해 시사하였다.

영문 초록

This study is aimed at analyzing the characteristics of mother characters in domestic and international creative picture books. For this purpose, 89 picture books related to mothers among creative picture books published in Korea were selected and analyzed. The results were as follows: First, the mothers in the creative picture books selected for the study were represented as peripheral characters, expressed in a two-dimensional way. Second, the main setting of the mothers was the residence (home). Third, the mothers' parental behaviors in the creative picture books were dominated by activities of daily living. Fourth, the majority of the creative picture books used for analysis did not show a mother's conflict. In addition, the books that did show this types of conflict were all about the mothers versus the other characters, and yet the conflict was mostly resolved by the other characters in the books rather than by the mothers themselves. Based on these results, this study suggests directions for the appearance and role of mothers in modern society that should be presented in future creative picture books.
