중학생의 학업 무기력 프로파일에 대한 예측 변인과 결과 변인 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 한국아동청소년패널조사(KCYPS) 2018의 1~3차년도 자료를 사용하여 중학교 2학년 시기의 학업 무기력의 유형별 특성을 확인하고, 아울러 중학교 1학년 시기의 그릿, 부모, 또래, 교사 변인이 이러한 유형을 어떻게 예측하는지와 분류된 유형에 따라 중학교 3학년 시기의 학업성취, 진로, 행복감 관련 변인이 어떻게 달라지는지 탐색하였다. 연구방법으로는 총 2,325명 학생의 응답자료를 사용하여 잠재프로파일분석을 실시한 결과 연구대상 내에는 학업 무기력의 지표(통제신념 결여, 학습동기 결여, 긍정정서 결여, 능동수행 결여) 수준에 따라 질적으로 다른 4개의 집단이 나타났으며 각각 낮은 동기-높은 학업 무기력 유형, 중상위 학업 무기력 유형, 중간 학업 무기력 유형, 낮은 학업 무기력 유형으로 구분되었다. 이어 3단계 방식으로 프로파일에 대한 공변수의 예측력을 알아본 결과 그릿이 높을수록 학업 무기력이 낮은 집단에 속할 확률이 높아졌고, 부모 양육태도와 또래관계, 교사관계가 긍정적일수록 학업 무기력이 낮은 집단에 속할 확률이 높아졌다. 마지막으로 프로파일에 따른 결과 변인의 차이에서는 학업 무기력이 높은 집단일수록 상대적으로 학업 무기력이 낮은 집단보다 주관적 학업성취도와 학업만족도, 진로포부가 낮았으며, 학교만족도, 삶의 만족도, 행복감이 낮게 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study identified the types of academic helplessness among second-grade middle school students using data from the first year to the third year of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) in 2018. We also examined how grit among students, parental attitude, and peer/teacher relationship during the first year of middle school predict the type of academic helplessness and how variables related to academic achievement, career, and happiness in the third year of middle school vary by type. The study collected data from 2,325 students through KCYPS. Latent profile analysis revealed four qualitatively different groups within the sample based on the level of academic helplessness: low motivation–high academic helplessness, upper–middle academic helplessness, moderate academic helplessness, and low academic helplessness. In a three-step process for assessing the predictive power of covariates, high levels of grit were associated with high probabilities of belonging to the low academic helplessness group, while positive parental attitudes, teacher relationships, and positive peer relationships were associated with high probabilities of belonging to the low academic helplessness group. Finally, compared with the group with low academic helplessness, the group with high academic helplessness exhibited low levels of academic achievement, career aspiration, and career planning behavior, as well as low levels of school/life satisfaction and general happiness.
