국문 초록

윤상필은 대한제국 육군무관학교 마지막 생도였다. 탁월한 능력과 체력을 겸비한 그는 1909년 일본으로 건너가 1915년 육군사관학교 27기로 졸업하였다. 그가 군인이자 행정 관료로서 두각을 나타낸 것은 1931년 9월 18일 만주사변 이후의일이다. 중국 패잔병의 공격을 받은 한인들을 조사하고 보호하는 일이었다. 이러한 공로를 인정받고 그는 1935년 군복을 벗고 만주국 고위 관료로서 안정적인 생활을 영위하였다. 적극적인 친일의 길을 걸어가게 된 것이다. 그리고 한반도의 농민들은 그의 손끝으로 만주로 강제 이주되었다. 해방 이후 그는 소련군에 체포되어 시베리아 수용소로 갔고 그곳에서 삶을 마감하였다. 영민하고 비범한 인재였던 윤상필은 개인의 영달을 추구했던 친일의 오욕에서 벗어나기는 쉽지 않다. 그가 외면 받는 가장 중요한 이유는 공동체의 정체성을 훼손했다는 점이다.

영문 초록

Yoon Sang-pil was the last cadet of the Korean Empire Military Academy. With his outstanding ability and physical strength, he moved to Japan in 1909 and graduated as the 27th class of the Japanese Military Academy in 1915. It was after the Manchurian Incident on September 18, 1931 that he distinguished himself as a soldier and administrative official. It was to investigate and protect Koreans who were attacked by Chinese soldiers. In recognition of his contribution, he took off his military uniform in 1935 and led a stable life as a high-ranking official of Manchuria. He was able to walk on the path of active pro-Japanese activities. And the peasants on the Korean Peninsula were forced to move to Manchuria at his fingertips. After liberation, he was arrested by Soviet troops and went to a Siberian camp where he ended his life. Yoon Sang-pil, a brilliant and extraordinary talent, is not easy to escape from the disgrace of pro-Japanese collaborators who pursued individual spirituality. The most important reason why he is shunned is that he has undermined the identity of the community.
