국문 초록

본 연구는 구체물을 활용한 물리적 지식 탐구 프로그램이 유아의 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과를 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 연구대상은 D시 P유치원의 만 5세 유아 32명을 실험집단과 통제집단에 각각 16명을 임의 할당하였다. 실험집단은 8주간 24회에 걸쳐 구체물을 활용한 물리적 지식 탐구 프로그램을 실시하였으며, 통제집단은 누리과정의 일반적인 교육활동을 진행하였다. 자료수집은 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도 검사를 실시하고, 공분산분석과 빈도차이를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 실험집단이 통제집단보다 과학적 탐구능력 점수와 과학적 태도 점수가 유의미하게 높게 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 유아교육현장에서 유아의 과학적 탐구능력과 과학적 태도 함양에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 유용한 프로그램임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of physical knowledge inquiry program with manipulative on the young children’s scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude. The subjects of this study consisted of 32 5-year-old children at P kindergarten, 16 children were assigned to experimental group and control group respectively. The experimental group participated in the program, while the control group participated in general scientific activity on the Nuri curriculum during a span of 24 times for 8 weeks. Quantitative analysis was carried out using ANCOVA which was applied for the data collected from a scientific inquiry ability test and a scientific attitude test. Results indicated that the experimental group who participated in the program had higher total score and frequency levels of the scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude than those of the control group. It is suggested that young children’s physical knowledge inquiry program using manipulative materials can have both positive and useful effects on improving scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude.
