국문 초록

본 연구는 기후 변화를 중심으로 영어 학습자의 다문화 리터러시를 함양하기 위한 교수-학습 및 평가 방법을 제안하는 데에 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 다문화 리터러시를 정의하고, 다문화 리터러시의 측면에서 효과적인 교수-학습 및 평가 방법을 탐색하였다. 본 연구에서는 빅 아이디어를 기반으로 기후 변화와 관련된 학습 목표를 설정할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다. 또한, Seelye (1994)의 목적과 김진석 (2015b)의 MAP모형을 기반으로 교실수업에서 기후 변화와 글로벌 이슈를 연관지어 효과적으로 지도하는 방안을 제안하였다. 더욱이, 다문화 리터러시는 빅 아이디어를 중심으로 수업을 진행하는 백 워드 설계 모형을 고려하여 평가를 설계할 필요가 있음을 논의하였다. 빅 아이디어를 달성하기 위해서는 학습자들의 수업 활동들과 연계하여 평가를 계획하고 시행하는 과정 중심 평가가 되어야 한다. 예컨대, 기후 변화 기반 다문화 리터러시 활동들과 연계한 평가들에는 TF, 퀴즈, 수업 관찰, 자기평가, 상호평가, 프로젝트 등이 실시될 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to suggest the teaching-learning methods and the assessing methods of improving English language learners’ multicultural literacy (ML) focused on climate change. To achieve this, teaching and assessing methods focused on climate change were reviewed and argued in the aspect of improving learners’ ML. In this paper, it was suggested that lessons need to be designed considering big ideas such as “the ways of reducing global warming are discussed and suggested.” That is, given objectives of units based on the big ideas, objectives of periods of lesson can be established, and tasks or activities appropriate to the objectives can be designed. In addition, it was presented that teachers can design lessons based on Seelye (1994)’s goals and Kim (2015b)’s ones by relating the climate change to global issue in English classrooms. Also, it was suggested that ML needs to be assessed in the aspect of backward design model. If big idea such as “ways of reducing global warming are discussed and suggested” is established, ongoing assessment can be designed in alignment with classroom activities based on the big idea. That is to say, cultural activities are designed in alignment with assessment framework such as TF, quiz, observation, self-assessment, observation, and project.
