제주지역 초·중 통합운영학교 교육과정 운영 실제에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 제주지역 초·중 통합운영학교의 교육과정 운영 실제와 교직원의 경험 및 인식을 심층 면담을 통해 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 실질적인 교육과정 통합이 이루어진 학교는 없었으며, 시설 및 행정 통합도 미흡한 상황이었다. 다만 일부 학교에서 창의적 체험활동 등을 통해 연계·통합을 시도하고 있었으며, 2025학년도를 기점으로 교육과정 통합을 추진할 계획이 있었다. 교직원들은 통합운영학교의 필요성을 긍정적으로 평가하면서도, 실질적인 교육과정 연계를 위해 법적·제도적 개선이 필요하다고 인식하였다. 이에 본 연구는 제주지역 초·중통합운영학교의 안정적 운영을 위한 방안으로, ｢제주특별자치도교육청 통합운영학교 관리지침｣ 개정, 교원 연수 지원, 교육과정 운영 매뉴얼 제작, 초·중등 복수자격 취득 방안 모색, 제주형 자율학교 지정 등을 제안하였다. 또한, 중·장기적으로 제주특별법 개정과 법규 정비를 통한 지원 방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구가 제주지역 초·중통합운영학교에 관한 관심 제고와 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the actual operation of the curriculum and the experiences and perceptions of the teaching staff in integrated elementary and middle schools in Jeju through in-depth interviews. The findings revealed that no schools had achieved substantial curriculum integration, and integration in terms of facilities and administration was also insufficient. However, some schools attempted linkage and integration through creative experiential activities, and most planned to implement curriculum integration by 2025. While teaching staff recognized the necessity of integrated schools positively, they also acknowledged the need for legal and institutional improvements to achieve meaningful curriculum integration. Accordingly, this study proposed measures to ensure the stable operation of integrated elementary and middle schools in Jeju, including the revision of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education Integrated School Management Guidelines, support for teacher training, the development of a curriculum operation manual, the establishment of a system for obtaining dual qualifications for elementary and secondary education, and the designation of Jeju-type autonomous schools. Additionally, mid- to long-term measures such as amendments to the Jeju Special Act and regulatory improvements were suggested. This study is expected to raise awareness and promote the development of integrated elementary and middle schools in Jeju.
