새중국의 국민 되기의 서사: 조선족의 첫 단편소설집 『세전이 벌』

국문 초록

1954년 연변문련 편으로 연변교육출판사에서 출간된 단편소설집 『세전이 벌』은 사실상 새중국 건국 이후, 중국 조선족의 첫 공동 작품집으로 조선족의 문학사 및 사회 발전사에서 중대한 의미를 지닌다. 『세전이 벌』은 새중국 건국 전해인 1948년부터 사회주의 개조가 바야흐로 완성되어가던 1954년에 이르기까지 무려 6년에 거쳐 창작된 작품들을 아우르고 있으며 작품 속 서사 배경 역시 광복직후의 해방전쟁(국공내전)으로부터 호조합작, 공업화, 지식인의 개조문제, 사회주의 개조 등 광범위한 시기를 아우르고 있다. 이처럼 단편소설집 『세전이 벌』은 ‘중국 조선족 문학'의 초기 성과들에 대한 점검이고 집대성이라고 할 수 있으며 공화국 건국 초기 조선족의 역사와 현재적 위치 및 국민적 자격 등에 대한 확인이라는 현실적 문제에 대한 문학적 대응이라고 할 수 있다. 본고는 당시 시대적 배경과의 연관 속에서 단편소설집 『세전이 벌』의 작품들에 나타난 작가들의 현실인식을 살펴보고 나아가 이 작품들이 당시 『세전이 벌』의 기획의도를 어떻게 드러내고 있는지, 조선족의 사회적, 역사적, 현실적 문제에 대한 문학적 대응을 어떻게 해나가고 있는지 등에 대해 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

The short story collection “Sejeon-i-beol”(trans: The Communal Fields) published by the Yanbian Educational Publishing House in 1954 by members of the Yanbian Literature Federation was the first collection of works by Chinese Koreans writers since the founding of the New China, and has a significant meaning in the history of Korean-Chinese literature and its social development. “Sejeon-i-beol” encompasses works created over a period of six years, from 1948, the year before the founding of the new China, to 1954, when the socialist reforms were nearing its completion. The narratives found in the works also cover a wide range of periods, from the war of liberation(Civil War) to the various stages of reforms of China‘s cooperatives, industries, intellectuals, and socialist reforms. In this way, the short story collection “Sejeon-i-beol” can be said to be a review and compilation of the early achievements of “Korean-Chinese literature,” and a literary response to the then contemporary historical issues of their social status and national qualifications as ethnic Koreans in the early days of the founding of the republic. This paper examines the writers’ perception of reality as shown in the short story collection “Sejeoni Beol” in relation to the historical background of the time, and further examines how these works reveal the deliberate intentions with which they provided literary responses to the social, historical, and realistic problems facing the Korean-Chinese at this time.
