국문 초록

새만금 잼버리는 정착민 식민주의적 정동의 상연이다. 새만금은 정착민 식민주의적 공연이 이루어지는 프론티어다. 새만금을 비롯한 간척지는 땅이자 몸에 해당하는 프론티어가 그 어셈블리지와 함께 형성됨을 보여주는 장치다. 이 글은 땅으로서의 프론티어에 해당하는 ‘불이농촌’, ‘오마도’, ‘새만금’을 통해 드러나는 프론티어의 몸을 ‘실향민들’, ‘탈주노예들’, ‘인디언들’로 파악하면서 이들의 존재생성 과정을 정착민 식민주의적 관점에서 논구했다. 형성적 역량으로서의 어셈블리지와 함께 프론티어는 번번이 다른 형상으로 나타난다. ‘불이농촌’이라는 자원 프론티어는 정착을 향한 정동이 곧 식민주의적 자원이라는 사실과 함께 그 형상을 드러냈다. 이러한 정동적 토대 위에서 난민정착사업을 추진했던 국가의 행위적 역할과 함께 ‘오마도’라는 모델 프론티어가 등장했다. 이러한 모델 프론티어로서 구상된 ‘새만금’이라는 이름의 땅은 다종의 원주민과 비인간 행위자들의 대항 정동과 함께 그 기획을 불안정하게 만들며 조수 프론티어의 모습으로 끊임없이 변신 중이다. 새만금 잼버리의 파행은 이처럼 프론티어 어셈블리지가 존재생성의 대항 정동을 통해 재회집될 수 있음을 드러낸다는 점에서 역설적이라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The Saemangeum Jamboree is an enactment of settler colonialist affect. Saemangeum is a frontier where settler colonialist performances take place. The reclaimed land, including Saemangeum, represents an apparatus that demonstrates how the frontier, which encompasses both land and body, is shaped through its assemblage. This article discusses the process of ontogenesis from a settler-colonialist perspective. It construes the bodies of the frontier as the 'displaced people', 'fugitive slaves', and 'Indians' who are revealed through 'Fuji Cummunity', 'Omado', and 'Saemangeum', which correspond to the frontier as land. The frontier appears in different forms at different times through the formative capacity of an assemblage. The resource frontier of the “Fuji Community” was shaped by the realization that the affect associated with settlement represented a colonialist resource. The model frontier of “Omado” was constructed on this affective foundation along with the agential role of the State, which encouraged refugee resettlement. The land named Saemangeum was conceived as such a model frontier; however, it is constantly transfiguring into a tidal frontier because the counter-affects of diverse Indigenous and nonhuman agents unsettle its designs. The collapse of the Saemangeum Jamboree is paradoxical because it demonstrates that such frontier assemblages can be reassembled by the counter-affect of ontogenesis.
