국문 초록

이 연구에서는 경찰관들의 심리적 지원의 필요성과 중요성을 제시하고, 현재운영 중인 마음동행센터의 운영 현황을 파악한 후 문제점을 진단하여 개선방안을 모색하였다. 경찰관은 고위험 직무와 스트레스가 많은 업무 환경에서일하기 때문에, 심리적 지원은 단순한 복지가 아니라 필수적인 요소임을 확인할수 있었다. 현재 전국 18곳에 설치 운영 중인 마음동행센터는 경찰관의 심리적 지원에중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 센터 이용 경찰관은 증가하나, 지방에서는 시설부족으로 어려움이 크다. 일부 센터는 민간에 위탁해 인력 문제를 해결하지만, 전문 상담을 위해 센터 내 인력 확보가 필요하다. 또한, 여전히 심리적 고충을혼자 해결하려는 경찰관들이 많아, 상담에 대한 인식 부족과 심리적 장벽이문제로 남아 있다. 이를 위해 시설 및 인력 확충, 상담 유형별 관리 및 심리적지원 체계 마련, 체계적인 모니터링, 상담에 대한 인식 개선 및 조직문화의변화 등을 제시하였다. 앞으로도 경찰관들의 심리적 지원을 위한 다양한 프로그램과 제도적 보강이요구되며, 이를 위해 조직적ㆍ사회적 차원의 관심과 지원이 필수적이다. 경찰관의 정신적 건강은 경찰 조직의 효율성과 직결되므로, 이러한 지원이 강화될때, 조직 내 건강한 근로 환경과 더 나아가 사회적 안전망도 확립될 것이기때문이다.

영문 초록

This study highlights the need and importance of psychological support for police officers, analyzes the current operation of the Mind Companion Center, identifies the issues, and explores potential solutions. Since police officers work in high-risk and stressful environments, psychological support is not just a welfare issue but an essential necessity. The Mind Companion Center, which currently operates in 18 locations nationwide, plays a crucial role in providing psychological support to police officers. Although the number of officers using the center is increasing, there are significant challenges, particularly due to the lack of facilities in rural areas. Some centers address the staffing issue by outsourcing counseling services, but to provide more specialized support, it is essential to increase in-house personnel. Additionally, many police officers still attempt to handle their psychological difficulties alone, highlighting the ongoing lack of awareness and psychological barriers surrounding counseling services. To address these challenges, the study proposes expanding facilities and personnel, establishing a management system for different types of counseling and psychological support, implementing systematic monitoring, and improving both the perception of counseling and organizational culture. In the future, a variety of programs and institutional enhancements for police officers' psychological support will be required, and organizational and societal-level attention and support will be crucial. Strengthening this support will not only improve the mental health of police officers but also enhance the efficiency of the police organization, fostering a healthier work environment and, ultimately, contributing to a stronger social safety net.
