박목월의 후기 시에 나타난 ‘달관’의 의미 연구 - 동양적 일원론과 기독교적 정신의 공존을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 논문은 박목월의 후기 시가 불이(不二)로서 동양의 일원론적 세계관과 마음의 가난으로서 초탈(Disinterest)에 대한 기독교적 영성관, 이 둘의 지평 융합적 결합을 통하여 창출되고 있음을 밝혔다. 지금까지 박목월의 후기 시는 ‘현실/이상’으로 대표되는 이원론을 바탕으로 초월 지향적인 서정성을 ‘달관’으로 형상화하였다고 이해되었다. 그러나 박목월의 달관은 지극히 일원론적 세계관에 뿌리내리고 있다. 이를 가장 잘 보여주는 것이, 경상도 방언 시의 주된 시적 소재인 향토적 ‘정(情)’이다. 이와 동시에 박목월의 달관은 ‘초탈’이라는 기독교적 영성관과도 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 이를 박목월은 ‘그렁저렁 사는 태도’로 형상화한다. 마태복음 5:3의 ‘마음의 가난’에 대한 시인의 관심과 탐구에서 비롯되는 이 독특한 삶의 태도에는, ‘나’와 관련한 욕망을 내려두고 가난하게 자신을 비우며 신의 뜻에 순응하고자 하는 기독교적 자세가 깃들어 있다. 이처럼 박목월 후기 시 세계의 가장 고유한 특징은 동양적 일원론과 기독교적 정신의 자연스러운 ‘만남’이다. 즉 박목월의 후기 시는 종교 다원주의의 시각에서 기독교적 정신을 재해석한 산물이라고 가치 부여할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study revealed that poems written in the Mok-wol Pak's latter term were created through a horizontal fusion of the Eastern monistic view as non-duality and the Christian spirituality regarding disinterest as poverty of mind. Until now, poems written in his latter term have been understood as the figuration of a transcendence-oriented lyricism by using philosophical maturity based on the dualism represented by “reality/ideal”. However, his philosophical maturity is rooted in an extremely monistic view. This is best exemplified by the local “sentiment”, which is the main poetic subject written in the Gyeongsangbuk-do dialect. At the same time, his philosophical maturity is closely linked to the Christian spirituality of “disinterest”. This is characterized as an “attitude of living as it goes” by Pak. This unique attitude of living, which stems from the poet's interest and exploration of the “poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3)”, is imbued with the Christian attitude that aims to put down desires related to “me” and empty oneself in poverty to conform to the will of God. Thus, the most unique characteristic of poems written in his latter term is the natural “encounter” of Eastern monism and the Christian spirit. In other words, poems written in his latter term can be seen as a result of reinterpreting the Christian spirit from the perspective of religious pluralism.
