국문 초록

이 글은 최수철이 2020년에 연작소설로 발표한 ｢다리 위에 지은 집｣과 ｢모든 막간은 불안하다｣를 대상으로, 주체와 타자의 관계를 새롭게 정립하는 문제, 그리고 타자지향적 주체로 나아가는 문제에 대해 검토하였다. 먼저 두 작품은, 인간은 의식과 무의식이 공존하는 존재이며, 무의식의 욕망은 타자를 떠나서는 성립되지 않음을 제시하면서, 의식적 주체 해체와 이항대립체계 해체를 통한 주체와 타자 문제의 해결을 강조한다. 이러한 측면을 라캉의 주체구성이론을 바탕으로 하여 두 작품에 나타나는 강박증 환자와 정상인의 관계를 통해 살펴보았다. 다음 ｢다리 위에 지은 집｣을 통해, 주체가 무의식 속에 이미 타자를 내재하고 있기에 주체와 타자의 관계는 대립적일 수 없고 상호 동등하면서도 보완적일 수밖에 없음을 검토하고, 이에 따라 인간은 타자와 상호 동등한 관계를 맺으면서 타자와 함께 살아갈 수밖에 없는 존재임을 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 ｢모든 막간은 불안하다｣를 통해, 타자와의 공존을 지향하는 타자지향적 주체로 나아가기 위해서는 무의식의 ‘나’와의 합일이 필요함을 검토하였다. 타자와의 공존을 욕망하는 무의식의 ‘나’와 하나가 되어 새롭게 태어날 때, 타자와 상호 동등한 관계에서 타자와 공존하는 타자지향적 주체로 전회할 수 있다는 것이다.

영문 초록

This article examines how to establish a new relationship between the subject and the other, and how to move toward the other-oriented subject, targeting “House Built on a Bridge” and “Every interlude is unsettling” which Choi Soo-chul published in a series of novels in 2020. First, the two works emphasize that humans are beings where consciousness and unconsciousness coexist, and unconscious desire cannot be established regardless of the other. Based on this, it is insisting on solving the problem of the subject and the other through the deconstruction of the conscious subject and the deconstruction of the binary confrontation system. Based on Lacan’s theory of subject composition, this aspect was examined through the relationship between obsessive-compulsive patients and normal people in the two works. Next, through “House Built on a Bridge”, it was reviewed that the relationship between the subject and the other cannot but be confrontational and must be equal and complementary because the subject already has the other in the unconscious. Accordingly, it was considered that humans live with others while establishing an equal relationship with each other. Finally, through “Every interlude is unsettling”, we looked at the need for unity with the unconscious ‘I’ in order to move toward a other-oriented subject aiming for coexistence with others. When newly born as one with the unconscious ‘I’ who desires to coexist with the other, it can be transferred to the other-oriented subject that coexists with the other in a mutually equal relationship.
