국문 초록

본 연구는 인지서사학의 방법론을 원용해서<아기장수>의 이야기 스키마를 탐구하고자 한다.그 방법으로<아기장수>의 현대적 활용 및 그에 대한 논의를 기반으로,각논자들 혹은 제작자들이 원천<아기장수>와 후행 텍스트들 사이에 설정한 의도적 유사성 혹은 우연한 유사성을 확인하고,이러한 유사성이 어떤 인지적 메커니즘에서 만들어졌는지를 살핀다.이야기는 그 자체의 문법이 의미를 생산한다기보다는 사람들의인지 체계와 만나야 비로소 의미가 생성된다는 인지서사학적 관점에서,향유자들이<아기장수>에서 무엇을 핵심적 요소로 보는가 그리고 어떤 의미를 발견하는가 고구하고자 하는 것이다.이에 본 연구에서는 현대적 활용에 나타난<아기장수>의 인지 체계를 ‘아기장수 스키마’로 보고 이를 모순의 스키마와 인과의 스키마로 명명하였다. 이 두 가지는<아기장수>를 향유하는 사람들의 인지 체계에서 발견된 것으로,<아기장수>설화의 유형과는 다른 기준으로 설정된 것이다.아기장수의 세부 유형이 객관적으로<아기장수>서사를 구성하는 내용을 중심으로 선별된 것이라면,이 스키마는 어떤 요소가 ‘아기장수’를 ‘아기장수답게’ 만든다고 향유자가 인지하는가를 중심으로 선별된 것이다.모순의 스키마는 ‘불구하고’라는 말이 표현하듯,자질과 결말의불일치를 통해 수용자는 이상하다거나 불합리한 것을 인지하고 그것이 정상적이거나합리적인 것에 대해 질문하게 된다.인과의 스키마에서 인간은 외부적 억압에 맞서기에 무기력한 존재로,‘어쩔 수 없는’ 일들을 경험하는 존재로 재현된다.이 두 가지 스키마가 함께 있음으로 인해<아기장수>가 소환하는 주체는 복잡해진다.<아기장수>의스키마를 가지는 한,우리는 윤리적 주체만으로도,물리적 주체만으로도 소환되지 않으며,어느 하나를 쉽게 선택할 수 없는 주체,두 가지의 기로에 있음을 계속 자각하는주체가 된다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the story schema of “The Agijangsu(Baby Hero)” by applying the methodology of cognitive narratology. Based on the contemporary utilization of “The Agijangsu” and discussions thereof, the study examines intentional or coincidental similarities established by various commentators or creators between the original “The Agijangsu” and subsequent texts. It investigates the cognitive mechanisms behind such similarities. From a cognitive narratological perspective, which suggests that stories derive meaning not from their own grammar but from their intersection with people’s cognitive systems, the study seeks to understand what core elements viewers perceive and what meanings they discover in “The Agijangsu.” In this regard, the study regards the cognitive system of “The Agijangsu” manifested in contemporary utilization as the “Agijangsu Schema” and names it as the schema of contradiction and the schema of causality. These two are found in the cognitive system of those who enjoy “The Agijangsu” and are established based on criteria different from the types of “The Agijangsu” tales. If the detailed types of “The Agijangsu” are selected objectively based on the content that constitutes the narrative of “The Agijangsu,” then this schema is selected based on what elements the audience perceives as making “The Agijang-su” characteristically “The Agijangsu.” The schema of contradiction, as indicated by the expression “despite,” allows the recipient to perceive the odd or irrational and question its normalcy or rationality through the discrepancy between qualities and outcomes. In the schema of causality, humans are represented as beings who experience inevitable events, confronting external oppression as powerless entities. With these two schemas together, the subject summoned by “The Agijangsu” be-comes complex. With the schema of “The Agijangsu,” we become subjects who are constantly aware of being summoned not only as ethical beings or physical entities but also as subjects who cannot easily choose between the two, who remain at a crossroads between the two dilemmas.
