‘겹쳐 읽기’를 활용한 대학생들의 읽기 방안 사례 연구

국문 초록

읽기 교육은 ‘무엇’을 ‘어떻게’ 가르치고 ‘평가’해야 하는 것인지에 관한 논의가 더필요하다.본고의 목적은 읽기 교육의 한 방법으로 ‘겹쳐 읽기’를 통해 연애를 주제로다룬 2개의 텍스트를 읽고 ‘질문 형성하기’와 ‘서평쓰기’ 과정에서 ‘겹쳐 읽기’의 효과를 확인하는 것이다. 본 연구는 문학 읽기 강의에서 김금희의<너무 한낮의 연애>와 이광수의<무정>을‘겹쳐 읽기’로 진행했다.이광수의<무정>은 근대에 최초로 연애라는 화두를 제공하였다는 점에서 텍스트로 선정하였고,김금희의<너무 한낮의 연애>는 현 세대의 연애를 제시한다는 점에서 선정하였다.학생들은 ‘겹쳐 읽기’를 함으로써 동일한 주제인연애에 대한 관심이 생성되었고,연애가 시대와 세대를 초월하여 어떻게 형상화되었는지 텍스트 내 인물들에게 어떤 영향을 미치는지 두 작품의 유사성과 차이점을 통해깨닫게 된다. ‘겹쳐 읽기’를 수행한 후 학생들은 ‘연애’가 왜 필요한지,‘연애’라는 경험은 ‘나’의성장에 어떠한 역할로 작동하는지에 대해 ‘질문 형성하기’로 소통하고 이 작품들에대해 깨달은 바를 ‘서평쓰기’로 완료했다.‘겹쳐 읽기’ 과정의 효과는 대학생들의 서평에서 확인할 수 있다.다수의 학생들이 ‘겹쳐 읽기’를 통해 동일한 주제의 두 개의텍스트를 살펴보는 경험이 ‘연애’에 대한 진지한 사유를 할 기회가 되었다고 기술하고 있다. 이 연구를 통해,읽기 교육에서 유사한 주제를 다룬 텍스트의 ‘겹쳐 읽기’를 통해학생들이 낯설고 오랜 텍스트를 친근하게 접근할 수 있을 것이라는 기대를 가질 수있게 되었다.학생들은 ‘겹쳐 읽기’로 텍스트 읽기에 대한 부담감을 낮추게 되어 이를계기로 시대와 세대를 넘어 더욱 다양한 텍스트를 읽을 기회를 가지게 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to design a reading education method using “ intertextual reading” to enhance students’ reading rate and engage them in reading. Considering a process of “book review writing” involving about 50 college students, it adopted a writing method that performs the task of “intertextual reading.” This paper presents an example of a reading class in the subject of literature that took the time to think about how college students show self-growth and self-reflection through a “romantic relationship.” Lee Kwang-soo’s “Moojeong” and Kim Keum-hee’s “Too Bright Midday for Romance” were selected as target texts. By “intertextual reading” these two texts, which were written 100 years apart, students were interested in the same theme of love and realized how love is embodied across times and generations through similarities and differences. After performing “intertextual reading,” students communicated by “asking questions” about why “love” is necessary and what role the experience of “love” plays in self-growth; moreover, they supplemented their reflections about these works with a “book review.” Through this study, it is expected that students will approach written works in a more accessible manner through the method of “intertextual reading” of texts dealing with similar topics in liberal arts education. This “intertextual reading” education is expected to lower the burden on students when reading texts, giving them the opportunity to read various classics.
