위험 리터러시 기반 안전 및 건강 관련 초등영어 교재 구성의 방향

국문 초록

초등영어학습자들의 안전의식을 함양하기 위해 영어과교육과정에 위험 리터러시기반 안전 및 건강 관련 소재를 설정하는 방안을 살펴보고,그 소재를 반영하여 위험리터러시 기반 교재구성의 방향을 제안하는데 있다.이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해, 2022개정영어과교육과정의 내용체계를 살펴보고,위험 리터러시의 관점에서 검인정된 초등학교 6학년 5종 영어교과서를 분석하였다.2022개정 영어과교육과정의 소재와 교과서를 분석한 결과,1)위험 리터러시 기반 안전 및 건강 관련 소재가 상세화되어 있지 않았다.2)4종 교과서의 단원에서는 주로 건강과 관련한 일상생활을 주제로하였고,1종의 교과서에서만 안전과 관련한 단원이 구성되어 있었다.3)단원은 학습자들의 의사소통능력을 함양하는 데 초점을 두고 있지만,학습자들이 위험을 인식·이해·분석·예측하여 위험을 제거·감소할 수 있는 위험 리터러시를 함양할 수 있도록 단원이 설계되어 있지 않았다.4)교수-학습 및 평가 방법 등이 안전 및 건강과 관련하여연계성을 갖추었는지를 분석한 결과,자기관리 역량,공동체 역량,심미적 감성 역량등의 총괄목표들을 달성하기 위해 스코프와 시퀀스를 고려하여 지속적이고 순서화되어 있지 않았다.5)특히,교과서에서는 안전 및 건강 관련하여 위험 리터러시 기반 교수-학습 및 평가 방안이 제시되어 있지 않았다.이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해,위험리터러시 기반으로 한 소재,위험 리터러시 기반 단원 설계의 방법,위험 리터러시 기반 교수-학습 활동과 연계한 과정 중심의 평가 방안 등을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study are to investigate the direction of establishing contents related to safety and health in English National Curriculum, and to suggest the method of designing primary English teaching materials related to safe and health based on risk literacy. To achieve the purposes, the 2022 revised English National Curriculum and the 6th primary textbooks were analysed in terms of risk literacy related to safe and health. The findings are as follows: (1) The contents related to safe and health based on risk literacy weren't presented specifically in the 2022 Revised Primary English Curriculum. (2) Although the units related to health were developed in the textbooks, the only one unit related to safe was developed in the scope of risk literacy. (3) Although the units to be analyzed were developed for learners to improve their communicative competence, they were not developed for learners to improve their risk literacy composed of recognition, understanding, analysis, predictability, and prevention of risk. (4) In the result of analysing the connectivity related to safety and health in the teaching-learning and assessing methods, the scope and the sequence were not continued and ordered to achieve the goals of English National Curriculum such as self-managing capacity, community capacity, and aesthetic sensitivity competence. (5) Furthermore, teaching-learning methods were not presented to improve learners' risk literacy in classes, and also ongoing assessment in alignment with classroom activities was not considered in terms of risk literacy. From the findings, it was suggested that the direction of designing primary English teaching materials related to safe and health needs to be established for primary learners to improve their risk literacy systematically and effectively.
