한국 언론의 중국 관련 이슈 분석 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 코로나19가 발생한 2019년 12월부터 코로나19 감염병 등급 하향 조정이 이루어진 2023년 8월까지 조선일보, 동아일보, 한겨레, 경향신문, 한국일보, 연합뉴스 등 국내 6개 주요 언론에서 보도된 중국 관련 뉴스 보도를 연구대상으로 삼아 텍스트 마이닝 분석을 실시하였다. 주요 키워드, 키워드 결합분석 및 이슈 분석, 감정 어휘 분석을 실시하고, 이를 바탕으로 한국의 주요 언론이 중국과 관련하여 중점적으로 보도한 이슈와 그에 나타난 한국 언론의 관점에 대해 살펴본다.

영문 초록

This research conducted text mining analysis on news coverage related to China in six major South Korean newspapers, including Chosun Ilbo, Dong-a Ilbo, Hankyoreh, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Hankook Ilbo, and Yonhap News, from December 2019 when COVID-19 emerged to August 2023 when there were adjustments in the classification of COVID-19 as an infectious disease. The analysis included examining major keywords, keyword combination analysis, issue analysis, and sentiment lexicon analysis. Based on these analyses, this study aims to investigate the key issues prominently covered by South Korean media in relation to China and the perspectives of the South Korean media on these issues. This paper seeks answers to the following questions: 1. During the COVID-19 period (from December 3, 2019, to August 23, 2023), what were the key issues that South Korean media focused on in relation to China? 2. For each of the specified time periods, how did South Korean media construct discourse regarding China in the context of COVID-19? 3. After the emergence of COVID-19, what perspective did South Korean media adopt when looking at China, and what was the image of China portrayed in the media? 4. Is there a correlation between domestic media coverage of China and the prevalence of anti-China sentiments in South Korea?
