국문 초록

본 논문은 해방기 김송 소설 작품들에서 나타나는 서사적 특성을 ‘시간성’ (temporality)의 관점에서 살피고자 했다. 해방기 김송의 소설에서는 민족의 운명에 관한 공적 시간이 중요하게 다루어지며 미래를 전망하는 다양한 시간성의 전략이 드러난다. 그리고 그의 작품은 동시대의 시대적 변화를 거의 시차 없이 즉각적으로 반영하기도 했다. 그는 해방의 순간에 공동체 안에서 발생한 변화의 순간들에 주목하며, 민족적 차원의 집단적 재생에 더 큰 관심을 기울였다. 또한 개인보다는 ‘민족’의 공동체적 변화에 관심을 기울였는데, 이러한 작가의식은 다양한 작품 속에서 ‘시간성’으로 의미화되어 드러난다. 이런 문제의식에서 본 논문은 김송의 해방기 소설 작품들에서 나타나는 공적인 ‘시간성’의 특성과 그 변모 양상에 대해 살펴보고자 했다. 2장에서는 ‘무기 없는 민족’ 연작을 중심으로 여기에 나타난 시간성의 다양한 결절의 순간들이 연속된 비동질적 시기였음을 주목했다. 3장에서는 ｢재생｣, ｢파시의 여상｣, ｢정임이｣를 중심으로 ‘과거’의 시간성의 의미변화를 살폈다. 일제 식민지 시기로 표상되는 ‘과거’와의 단절과 38선 경계를 중심으로 한 과거 수난의 의미화와 극복의 모색이 주된 주제였다. 4장에서는 ｢고향이야기｣와 ｢동경｣ 등에서 나타난 전설적, 역사적인 초월적인 시간성을 상정한 양상을 살폈다. 이를 통해 ‘민족’을 초월적인 시간에 위치시키고 독자들이 민족을 역사적으로 선험적인 존재로 간주하며 동질적인 정체성을 가질 수 있도록 유도했다. 요컨대 이 논문은 김송의 작품들을 통해 해방기 소설 작품들에서 나타나는 ‘시간성’의 독특한 양상을 살펴보고자 했다. 해방기는 한국의 근현대사에서 단절과 불연속의 특성이 두드러지게 나타난 시기였다. 김송은 다양한 ‘시간성’의 전략을 통해 해방기 역사적 공간 속에서 작품들을 창작하며 현실 인식을 드러내고 대안을 모색하고자 했다는 점에서 중요한 의미가 있다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the narrative characteristics of Kim Song’s novels from the perspective of ‘temporality’. In Kim Song’s novels during the liberation period, public time is important for the fate of the nation, and various temporal strategies for looking to the future are revealed, and his works reflect the changes of his time almost instantaneously. He paid more attention to the moments of change that occurred within the community at the moment of liberation, and paid more attention to the collective regeneration of the ethnic dimension. He was also interested in the collective transformation of the ‘nation’ rather than the individual, and this artist’s consciousness is revealed through the meaning of ‘temporality’ in various works. With this in mind, this paper aims to examine the nature of public ‘temporality’ and its transformation in Kim Song’s works of fiction during the liberation period. In Chapter 2, I focused on the “People Without Arms” trilogy, noting that the various moments of temporality in the trilogy were successive, non-homogeneous periods. In Chapter 3, I examined the changes in the meaning of ‘past’ temporality, focusing on ‘Regeneration’, ‘The ideal woman of Parsi’, and ‘Jung Im-i’. The main themes were the disconnection from the ‘past’ represented by the Japanese colonial period and the search for meaning and overcoming of past suffering centered on the 38th parallel. Chapter 4 examined the ways in which legendary and historical transcendent temporality is imagined in ‘Hometown Story’ and ‘Longing’. This positioned the ‘nation’ in a transcendent time and encouraged readers to consider the nation as historically a priori and to have a homogeneous identity. In short, through Kim Song’s works, this paper examined the unique aspects of ‘temporality’ in Korean fiction during the liberation period. The liberation period was a period in Korea’s modern history characterized by disconnection and discontinuity. It is important to note that Kim Song used various strategies of temporality to create his works in the historical space of the liberation period, revealing his perception of reality and seeking alternatives.
