대학생 글쓰기에 나타난 오류 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학생들의 학술적 글쓰기에서 보이는 인용방식에서의 문제점을 분석하고, 유형화함으로써 이를 예방할 수 있는 구체적이고도 실질적인 글쓰기 교육 방안을 모색해보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 필자는 2008-2학기에 대학교 2학년 학생들이 제출한 기말과제물을 대상으로 이에 나타난 인용방식에서의 문제점들을 분석, 유형화하였다. 대학생들의 글에서 자주 보이는 인용의 문제점은 다음과 같이 나누어 정리해 볼 수 있다. 인용한 문헌의 서지 기술 방식과 관련된 오류, 인용의 표시와 관련된 오류, 인용문의 이해와 관련된 오류, 인용문의 선택과 관련된 오류, 인용문의 길이 및 빈도와 관련된 오류가 그것이다. 학술적 글에서 잘못된 인용은 단지 ‘잘못된 표기’ 정도의 문제에 그치지 않는다. 잘못된 인용은 주장의 정당성, 타당성, 독창성, 신뢰성을 약화시키는 요인으로 작용하며, 나아가서는 표절로 간주되어 필자의 도덕성에 치명적인 손상을 가져다주기도 한다. 따라서 학술적 글쓰기 지도에서는 올바른 인용방식에 대한 교육에 더 관심을 갖고, 인용에서의 오류를 줄일 수 있는 구체적이고 실질적인 교육 방안을 모색하는 데 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This thesis aims to search for a better education method of academic writing for university students which is concrete, essential, and helpful for preventing inappropriate citation. For this purpose, the author analyzed and classified errors of citations in the second term reports of sophomores. There were several kinds of errors as follows: an error related to the style of bibliographical description, an error related to the expression of citation, misunderstanding of the original text, an error associated with the relation between the text and a citation, and an error related to the length and the frequency of citations. An erroneous citation in academic writing is beyond an erroneous marking. It can lower rightfulness, appropriateness, originality, and reliability of the author's insistence. In addition, it could ultimately injure morality of the author as an erroneous citation may be considered to be a plagiarism. Hence, we should pay special attention to improvement upon education system for proper way of citation, and try to find out a way to reduce erroneous citation.
