국문 초록

김소진은 사회에 대한 문제의식을 소설로 꾸미는데 탁월했던 작가로 평가 받아왔다. 대부분 작품들의 문학성을 비등점 위로 끌어올렸다. 「처용단장」은 그의 작품 중에서도 소설적 특징이 돋보인다. 본 연구는 김소진의 「처용단장」을 소설적 기법과 장치 그리고 인물의 심리를 중심으로 논의를 전개했다. 소설적 기법에서는 김소진이 우수한 평가를 받는 이유 중 하나인 언어구사력을 살펴보았다. 그의 소설은 감수성이 예민하고 묘사가 섬세함이 특징이다. 특히 「처용단장」은 단어의 선택이 탁월하다. 생소함이 참신한 느낌을 주지만 정겹고 친근하다. 의미 하나하나가 불확실해 보여도 문맥적으로 술술 넘어가게 만든다. 즉, 단어의 의미를 인식적 측면에서 접근한 것이 아니라 정의적 측면에서 접근하였다. 익숙한 언어로 말하는 것은 아니지만 독특하면서도 정겨운 표현들을 구사하고 있다. 소설적 장치에서는 「처용단장」의 문학성을 높이는 효과적인 장치들인 액자식 구성, 몽환적 분위기, 패러디기법을 살펴보았다. 김소진은 이 세 가지 장치를 이용하여 독자들에게 보다 효과적으로 주제를 전달하고 있다. 인물의 심리에서는 「처용단장」에 등장하는 인물들의 심리를 살펴보았다. 서영태, 권희조, 라윤미 이 세 인물로 집약되는 중심인물과 몇몇의 주변인물로 작품의 색깔을 다채롭게 꾸민다. 중심인물은 모두 입체적인 인물로 성격화 되었으며, 이들의 인과관계는 매우 분명하고 밀접하다. 서영태, 권희조, 라윤미 세 중심인물은 천 년 전의 처용, 헌강왕, 교선과 동일한 성격을 갖는다. 이러한 전형화 된 성격은 현실의 어떤 인물들의 관계와 성격을 고발하는 것이다. 소설 속의 인물은 소설 속에서만 국한 되는 것이 아니라 소설 밖의 어떤 인물과 동일시된다. 마찬가지로 「처용단장」의 주인공들은 액자 안팎에서 상호관련성을 가지며, 이 소설을 둘러싼 현실의 어떤 계층 인물들과도 관련을 맺는다. 다시 말하면 궁극적으로 현실의 지식인들에 관련된 문제로 이어 진다. 김소진의 「처용단장」은 해탈이란 말로 모든 부정이 외면되는 이 시대에 우리에게 진정한 해탈이란 무엇이며, 그 진정한 해탈을 향해 나아가기를 독려 하고 있다. 이 모든 것은 이 땅의 살아 있는 지식인이 되기를 바라는 모든 이에게 시사하는 바가 매우 큼을 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

Kim So Jin is considered as a very excellent author who writes about a critical mind of the society. He promotes his literary works above the boiling point. Of his works, 「Cheo Yong Dan Jang」 is distinguished by novelistic features. This study develops discussions about 「Cheo Yong Dan Jang」 by Kim So Jin that focus on novelistic techniques, devices and the psychology of characters. In the novelistic techniques, this study looks into a mastery of his words, which is high evaluated. His novels have sensitive and detailed descriptions. Especially in the 「Cheo Yong Dan Jang」, Kim So Jin shows outstanding choices of literature words. The unacquainted words refresh us but they are friendly and affectionate. Their meaning seems uncertain but natural in whole contexts. Therefore the meanings of words are approached by not aspects of recognition but definition. He doesn't say acquainted words but makes very unique and friendly expressions. In novelistic devices, this study focuses on frame structures, dreamlike moods and parodies which made Kim So Jin's literary value advanced. He uses these three devices to show readers effective theme. In the psychology of characters, this study examines characters' personalities appeared in the 「Cheo Yong Dan Jang」. The main characters are Seo Yong Tae, Kweon Hee Jo and La Yun Mi and they make this novel colorful with other minor characters. The main characters are typed as stereoscopic ones. Their cause-and-effect relationships are very obvious and closed. Three characters: Seo Yong Tae, Kweon Hee Jo and La Yun Mi are at the same line with Cheo Yong, the King Heon Kang, Kyo Sun ten thousands ago. These typical characteristics reveal relationships and personalities of some people in present time. The persons in the novel aren't limited on it and are regarded the same ones as someone outside in the novel. As the same time, the main characters in 「Cheo Yong Dan Jang」 have relationships inside or outside in frames and have something to do with other real persons who surround this novel. In other words, to the ultimate, they are connected with problems which the current intellectuals have. 「Cheo Yong Dan Jang」 by Kim So Jin shows what a real nirvana is in this time when everyone ignore denials and he encourage us to advance on it. All those things are significant for everyone who wants to be real intellectuals.
