대학생의 독서동기 수준에 따른 독서태도와 독서전략의 차이

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 대학생들의 독서동기 수준에 따라 독서전략과 독서태도에 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 분석하고자 한다. 또한 책을 읽는 행위와 관련된 독서태도와 독서전략이 발휘될 수 있도록 독서동기의 중요성을 확인하고자 한다. 나아가 독서동기 수준에따른 독서태도와 교육현장에서 독서동기 증진을 위한 교육환경과 방법적 측면을 개선하기 위한 방안을 마련하는데 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재4년제 대학 600명의 대학생에게 독서동기 수준에 따른 독서전략, 독서태도의 차이를알아보기 위하여 두 독립표본 t검정을 실시하였다. 또한 대학생의 독서동기 수준에 따른 독서전략, 독서태도의 차이를 알아보기 위하여 우선, 독서동기 수준별 집단을 분류하기 위해 연구에 참여한 전체 학생 수 505명 중에서 독서동기 점수의 사분위 점수를구하였다. 사분위 점수를 토대로 작은 점수부터 나열하여 25%, 50%, 75%로 범위를 객관적으로 구분하여 중위수 값이 있는 50%범위의 점수는 독서동기수준이 낮다거나 높다고 할 수 없으므로 사분위수 25% 이하의 점수를 낮은 독서동기수준이라 하고, 사분위수 75%이상의 점수를 높은 독서동기수준이라 하고 집단을 분류하였다. 분석결과, 독서동기 수준이 높은 경우, 독서전략과 독서태도에서 높은 수준을 나타냄을 알 수 있다. 이에 반해 독서동기 수준이 낮은 경우, 독서전략과 독서태도 수준이 낮음을 알 수 있다. 이와 같은 결과는 독서전략과 독서태도 수준을 높이기 위해서는 독서동기 수준을 높여야 함을 시사하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 대학생의 독서동기에 대한 중요성과 인식 제고가 이루어지고 대학 내 독서환경이 개선되고 이를지원하는 다양한 프로그램 개발에 대한 추후 연구가 필요하다. 특히, 대학생의 독서동기에 대한 실증적인 연구가 필요하고, 독서전략과 독서태도에 대한 기초자료를 제공할 수 있는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다. 그에 따라 비판적으로 사고하고 탐구하며, 건전한 인격을 함양한 4차산업혁명 시대를 이끌어갈 창의적인 인재 양성을 기대해 볼 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

In this study, we want to analyze the differences in reading strategies and reading attitudes of university students according to their level of motivation for reading. In addition, it is intended to confirm the importance of reading motivation so that reading attitudes and reading strategies related to reading can be exercised. Furthermore, the Korean government intends to provide basic data on how to improve the educational environment and the methodological aspects of improving reading motivation in the field of education and reading according to the level of reading motivation. To this end, the two independent sample t tests were conducted to identify differences in reading strategies and reading attitudes for 600 university students at four-year universities in the Seoul metropolitan area. In addition, to identify differences in reading strategies and reading attitudes according to the level of reading motivation for university students, a quartile score of reading motivation was obtained among the total 505 students who participated in the study to classify groups by reading motivation level. Based on the quartile score, the group was classified as a reading motivation level with a median value of 50% by objectively dividing the range by 25%, 50%, and 75%, because the reading motivation level is low or high. The analysis showed that when the reading motivation level is high, the level of strategy and attitude increases, and when the level is low, the level of strategy and attitude decreases. These results suggest that reading motivation levels should be raised in order to improve reading strategies and reading attitude levels. Therefore, this study requires further research on the importance and awareness of college students motivation for reading, improvement of reading environment in universities, and development of various programs to support it. In particular, empirical research on the motivation of reading by university students is needed, and research that can provide basic data on reading strategies and reading attitudes should be done. Therefore, we can expect to foster creative talent that will lead the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which will lead to critical thinking, exploration, and healthy character.
