경미(京味) 문학 속의 베이징 도시문화

국문 초록

이 글은 경미문학의 근원이라 인정되는 라오서(老舍)와 신경미(新京味) 작가 왕쑤오(王朔)를 통해 20세기 베이징 도시문화의 함의와 그 변화의 일면을 살핀다. 라오서는 후통(胡同), 스허위엔(四合院)을 통해 보수적인 라오베이징 시민들을 섬세하게 그려냈다. 그는 찬탄과 그리움뿐만 아니라 냉정한 통찰과 비판의 시선을 베이징의 민속문화를 바라본다. 반면 왕쑤오의 베이징 기억과 상상은 온통 따위엔과 사회주의 혁명문화에 집중되어 있다. 따위엔은 혁명문화의 표상체인 동시에 진원지였다. 1950년대부터 지금까지 베이징 문화의 주류는 따위엔 문화다. 1949년을 경계로 베이징은 전통문화가 각인된 스허위엔·후통 문화에서 사회주의 혁명문화를 중심으로 하는 따위엔 문화로 전환되었고 그 영향력은 지금도 막강하다. 1940년대의 라오서와 신중국건립 이후의 왕쑤오를 통해 도시와 개인 정체성의 문제를 탐색하는 작업은, 도시 주요 거주공간의 변화에 대한 탐문인 동시에 제국도시 베이징에서 사회주의 수도 베이징으로 변모해가는 양상을 살피는 작업이다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the undertones of 20th century urban Beijing culture and its aspects of change through Lao She, who is recognized as the source of Jingwei Literature, and xin-Jingwei writer Wang Shuo. The work of exploring the issue of the city and individual’s identity through Wang Shuo prior to the establishment of new China and Lao She of the 1940s is not only the work of investigating the changes of major living spaces in the city but also the work of studying the aspects of Beijing transforming from an imperial city to the capital of socialism. Lao She subtly portrayed numerous conservative, backward, and old citizens through hutongs and siheyuans. He viewed the folk culture of Beijing through a gaze of objective insight and criticism, not just praise and longing. On the other hand, the memories and visions of Beijing by Wang Shuo focus wholly on the culture of dayuan and socialist revolution. Dayuans are the representamen and, at the same time, source behind revolutionary culture. Th mainstream of Beijing culture from the 1950s to the present was dayuan culture. With 1949 as the boundary, the culture of Beijing transitioned from siheyuan and hutong culture to a dayuan culture centered on the culture of socialist revolution, with its influence powerfully felt even today.
