국문 초록

이 연구는 이발소라는 생활공간을 통해 미시생활사적으로 도시공간을 조망함으로써 도시민속지의 작성 방법을 모색하는 것이 그 목적이다. 특히, 부산이 거대도시로 성장하는 과정에서 제조공장, 부두, 미군부대 등에서 일하기 위하여 모여든 노동자들이 집중 거주하며 형성된 ‘매축지마을’은 재개발의 논의 속에서 민속지 작성을 화급하게 서둘러야 할 필요가 있는 곳이다. 부산의 도시화와 함께 성장하였음에도 결국 그 과정에서 쇠락하여 소위 빈민지역으로 주변화 되어버린 매축지마을에서 그 부침을 함께하며 마을의 역사를 품고 있는 이발소와 이발사에 대한 민속지적 자료의 수집과 정리는 도시공간을 생활사적으로 이해하는 하나의 방법이 될 것이다. 도시공간을 이해하기 위한 민속지적 자료의 수집은 ‘가까운 옛날’의 이야기에 주목해야 하며, 생애사는 물론 사진, 기록물 등을 종합적으로 파악할 필요가 있다. 머리카락을 잘라주는 본래의 역할뿐만 아니라 다양한 기능을 수행하는 공간으로 자리매김 한 이발소의 민속지를 작성하기 위해서는 이발사와 이발소를 이용한 다양한 사람들의 이야기를 수집하는 것이 첫 번째 과제일 것이며, 그에 못지않게 중요한 부분이 그들이 기록하고 간직해온 다양한 물건들에 대한 조사일 것이다. 기억을 통해 개인과 마을의 역사를 재구성 하는 데 있어서 물건들은 그 자체로 핵심 자료가 될 수도 있고, 기억을 소환해 줄 실마리를 제공해 줄 수도 있기 때문이다. 특히, 개인과 마을의 역사를 간직하고 있는 사진자료와 결혼식 축의금 장부나 장례식 조의금 장부와 같은 개인의 중요 사건에 대한 기록은 당시의 사회상을 이해할 수 있는 자료가 되기도 한다. 이를 통해 매축지마을의 시대적･공간적 특성이 반영된 사회관계의 변화양상, 제 의례 및 생활방식의 변화도 파악할 수 있다. 이러한 도시장소를 통한 민속지는 지속, 변화, 창출된 생활문화에 대한 과거와 현재의 상보적 접근을 통해 작성되어야 보다 의미기 있을 것이라 생각된다. 이는 도시생활사적 함의를 규명하기 위한 토대가 될 것이기 때문이다.

영문 초록

This study aim to explore the way to write urban ethnography by viewing urban space in micro-life history through barbershop. Especially, the Maechukji Village, which was formed when laborers were integrated in the process of Busan’s growth into a large city, is a place that needs to be rushed to write ethnography at a time of discussions on redevelopment. The Maechukji Village grew with the urbanization of Busan, but it eventually collapsed and became provincialize into slum area. The collection and arrangement of Ethnological materials on barbershops and barbers, which contain the history of village, will be one way to understand urban space in life history. In order to make ethnography of barbershop, which has established itself as a space for performing various functions as well as the place for hair cut, it is necessary to collect the stories of barbers and various people using barbershops, and also investigate various items they have recorded and kept. The materials can be a key resource in the reconstruction of individual and village history through memory, and they can provide clues to bring the memories back. In particular, both photographic materials that retain the history of individuals and villages and records of important events such as congratulatory money and condolence money are materials that help understanding in the society of the time. Through the life photographs of barbers, the marriage gift book and the funeral condolence book, it was able to figure out the changes in social relations, rites, and lifestyles that reflect the historical and spatial characteristics of the Maechukji Village. It is considered that these urban ethnography will be more meaningful only when they are written through a complementary approach of past and present regarding the continuation, transition, and created life culture. This is because it will be the foundation for identifying the implications of urban life history.
