동중서의 天人感應論과 經達權變의 강령

국문 초록

본고는 동아시아의 한자문화권에서 세계의 통일적 질서를 어떻게 모색할 것인가 하는 문제의식 하에 동중서의 新儒學의 특징을 밝히는 작업으로서 天人感應論과 經達權變의 강령을 고찰하고자 한다. 그 논점은 陰陽五行의 관계에 따른 經世主義的 세계에 맞추어져 있다. 그 방법론으로는 經達權變의 강령에 입각한 中和의 통일적 원리이다. 여기에는 漢代의 왕조가 大一統의 역사의식 속에서 경달의 대원칙에 맞춰 권변의 방법을 어떻게 운용할 것인가 하는 신유학의 사명감이 담겨있다. 權變은 經達에 도달하는 방법과 수단이고, 經達은 權變이 추구해야할 목적과 경지이다. 그것은 음과 양의 관계에서 經達이 그 양극단의 최상의 구조를 가리킨다면 權變은 그 최상의 조화로운 상태를 말한다. 經權의 원칙과 운용은 군자의 자질이 무엇인지, 현실적 삶 속에서 도덕규범과 원칙을 어떻게 실천할 것인지, 더 나아가 이러한 실천의 행위를 어떻게 정당화할 것인가 하는 점에 중점을 둔다. 그러므로 중화의 원리에 기반한 經達權變의 지평에는 天道의 선험적 필연성에 입각한 人道의 합법적 정당성을 확보하려는 논법이 반영되어 있다. 이러한 점에서 동중서의 新儒學的 세계관에는 문명의 차원에서 經達權變의 가치론적 강령이 크나큰 기조를 이루고 있다고 말할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The essay aims at explicating Dong Zhongshu’s world-view concerning the reciprocal relationship of Heaven and Man. The point is how the world proceeds in the Confucian system of Jing-da-quan-bian which is metaphysically representative as canon and its application at Han dynasty. It is concreted into such a universal idea as Yang’s jing-da and Yin’s quan-bian for rule of administration. According to the idea, the Confucian system of Jing-da-quan-bian provides a methodological way for connecting between Heaven Way and Human Way. It has a holistic horizon that the ontological recognition of the universe is appeared in a deep world of humanity. It attaches importance to introducing some experience of humanity into the recognition of the world. It can be characteristic of a transcendental point of view in constituting the self-consciousness of Da-yi-tong. The viewpoint is that the principle of life is closely associated with the value of morality in the context of the intergal consciousness of community. The principle of nature can be organically associated with the law of community. This is because it results in the reciprocal unity of the nature principle and the social law. It is understandable that the canon of human way is based upon the ultimate rule for human life. Furthermore, it makes a metaphysical identification of the reality of world. Here, the complete stage of humanity is equivalent to the Confucian self-realization. Thus, it is consequent that such a world of jing-da-quan-bian has orientation toward self-realization in the Neo-Confucian sovereign of administration.
