비판적 다시 쓰기를 통한 젠더 글쓰기 수업 방안

국문 초록

젠더적 관점에서 이루어진 다시 쓰기 작품을 소개하고, 그 텍스트들과 글쓰기 방식에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 대학 글쓰기 과목에서 비판적 다시 쓰기 활동을 해 보는 것을 제안하였다. 현진건의 <운수 좋은 날>과 김이설의 <운발 없는 생>, <옥환기봉>과 그 연작 중 한 편인 <취미삼선록>을 비판적 다시 쓰기의 예로 들었다. 두 작품은 부부 관계에서 억압되고 소거된 아내의 목소리를 복원하고 있다는 점에서 공통점을 가지고 있다. <운발 없는 생>은 무책임, 무지, 폭력과 같은 김첨지의 문제점을 부각시키고, 아내의 시점에서 그녀의 고통과 분노를 드러낸다. <취미삼선록>은 허씨의 존재와 목소리를 복원하고 그녀를 복위시킴으로써 <옥환기봉>에서 문제 되었던 곽후 폐출의 부당함을 말한다. 비판적 다시 쓰기를 통한 젠더 글쓰기는 대학 교양 글쓰기 과목에서 시도해 볼 만한 가치가 있다. ‘젠더’와 ‘글쓰기’ 둘 다 성별이나 전공의 경계를 넘어서는 주제이며, 교양인으로서 대학생이 실천의 영역에서 고민해야 하는 문제이기 때문이다. 75분 2차시 기준으로 수업 모형을 설계해 보았다. 1차시는 토의를 통한 텍스트에 대한 비판적 분석, 2차시는 공동 글쓰기 및 발표로 구성된다. 비판적 다시 쓰기는 우리 사회가 안고 있는 다양한 문제를 주제로 활용 가능하다는 점에서 의미 있는 글쓰기 방식이다.

영문 초록

This paper introduces stories rewritten from the standpoint of gender equality and suggests critical rewriting as a part of the curriculum for college writing courses based on an understanding of the texts and their writing style. Specifically, this paper presents two examples of critical rewriting: Unlucky Life by Yiseol Kim as a rewritten version of A Lucky Day by Jin-geon Hyun, and Chuimisamseonrok as that of Okhwangibong. These two rewritten works both have in common their restoration of the voices of oppressed wives in the relationship of married couples. Unlucky Life emphasizes Chumji Kim’s faults such as irresponsibility, ignorance, and violence, and adopts the viewpoint of his wife to reveal her pain and anger. Chuimisamseonrok describes the unfairness of Empress Kwak’s expulsion, which was a problem in Okhwangibong, by in the end recognizing Ms. Hur’s existence and restoring her voice. There is much value in writing about gender through critical rewriting in liberal arts college writing courses. Both ‘gender’ and ‘writing’ are topics that extend beyond the boundaries of gender or major, and matters that college students as educated members of the community need to contemplate in the realm of practice. This paper proposes a class model of two 75-minute classes. The first class will be allocated to critical analyses of the texts through discussions, and the second class will consist of group writing and presentations. Critical rewriting is a meaningful way of writing in that it can be applied to a variety of issues across society.
