노년기 사회참여의 변화특성 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 노년기 사회참여의 특성에 대한 포괄적 이해를 위해 종단적으로 접근하였으며, 그 변화궤적을 추정하는데 목적이 있다. 구체적으로 평균적인 변화수준을 도출하는 관찰변수 중심적 접근과 개인의 다양한 질적인 차이를 밝히는 데 목적을 두어 차별적인 변화수준을 유형화하는 관찰대상 중심적 접근의 두 가지 측면에서 시도되었다. 이를 위해 고령화연구패널(KLoSA)의 1, 2, 3차년도의 자료가 활용되었으며, 분석대상은 1952년 이전 출생한 노인 5,286명이다. 분석방법은 구조방정식을 통한 잠재성장모형(latent growth curve modeling, LGM)과 K-평균 군집분석(K-means clustering)이 활용되었다. 분석결과, 첫째, 노년기 사회참여의 평균적인 변화수준은 초기수준이 매우 낮고, 시간이 흐름에 따라 점차 선형적으로 감소하는 추세를 보였다. 이를 통해 노인의 사회참여 수준이 연령이 증가함에 따라 감소함으로써 사회로부터 분리되는 한국사회의 추세를 경험적으로 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 이질적인 변화유형을 추정해본 결과, 4개 유형이 도출되어 변화정도가 다양한 차별적인 집단들이 존재하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 노인복지 개입에 있어 사회참여 변화의 수준과 유형에 관한 충분한 고려가 필요함을 보여주고 있다. 분석결과를 토대로 노년기 이전의 활동능력에 대한 학습의 중요성을 강조하였고 다양한 욕구를 가진 ‘개별노인’을 고려한 지원의 필요성과 더불어 사회참여에서 배제된 표적집단을 구체화하는 접근을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to take an overall look at characteristics of social participation for the elderly by longitudinal analysis and to estimate the trajectories of the change in social participation level. This study has adopted the panel data, the Korean longitudinal study of ageing (KLoSA), wave 1 to wave 3, in which a total of 5,286 respondents born before 1952 were surveyed. For the variable-centered approach, latent growth model based on the structural equation model have been applied, while the person-centered approach has used k-means clustering based model. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows : First, the results by average trajectories of change in the social participation showed that intercept level was very low, and there was no large movement yet slope has decreased linearly as time passed. Second, as an analysis of different types of trajectories in the social participation four types of trajectories were drawn, and it was able to confirm that different group consist in the change. This study shows that should be adequate consideration regarding levels and types of the change on social participation in elderly intervention. Based on the findings of this study, it was proposed that interventions to concrete focus group which excluded from social participation and to focus on the individual elderly with a variety of needs.
