마이크로 매칭 방안 비교 연구

국문 초록

최근 통계 이용자의 요구 수준은 점점 복잡해지고 다양해지고 있으며 또한 한 조사에서 가능한 많은 정보를 얻고자 하는 연구자들의 의도로 인하여 과거에 비해 많은 항목에 대한 자료를 수집함으로써 응답자의 부담이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 현상들은 응답률의 감소 및 조사비용 증가 등을 초래하여 조사의 수행 자체를 어렵게 만들고 있다. 이러한 문제들을 극복하기 위하여 기존의 다양한 출처의 자료를 이용한 자료 통합에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 동일한 목표 모집단으로부터 추출한 서로 다른 두 표본자료를 하나의 자료로 통합하는 마이크로 매칭(micro matching) 방안들을 모의실험과 실제 사례연구를 통해 비교하였다. 비교를 위해서 본 연구에서는 마이크로 매칭 방안으로는 최근접 이웃 핫덱, 랜덤 핫덱, 혼합 방법, 경향 점수 매칭을 고려하였으며, 거리 함수로는 맨하튼 거리, 마할라노비스 거리, 고워 거리를 이용하였다. 실제 사례 연구에서는 2009년 경제활동인구조사 자료와 생활시간조사 자료를 이용하여 마이크로 매칭 방안들을 비교하였다. 모의실험 및 사례연구에서 경향 점수를 이용한 매칭 방안을 제외한 다른 방법들은 서로 비슷한 결과를 보였으며 매칭방안들의 이론적 조건인 조건부 독립성 가정으로 인하여 두 조사로부터 각각 관측되는 변수들의 공분산 구조의 추정량은 모든 매칭 방안에서 효율성이 떨어지는 것으로 확인되었다.

영문 초록

Recently, demand of statistics-users becomes more complex and diverse. And survey environment is also getting worse due to personal information protection policy. Such a situation makes the survey cost increase and also the survey result be unreliable. As a way of solving such problems, study on the data matching has been actively done by many researchers. As such, we compared several existing micro matching methods that combine two independent survey data based on the same target population. Through a simulation study and real data example, we compared 8 different methods which are the combination of different matching methods and different distance measures used. As a matching method, we considered nearest neighborhood hot deck, random hot deck, mixed method and propensity score method, and Manhattan distance, Mahalanobis distance and Gower distance are considered as a distance measure. As a real data example, 2009 economically active population survey and time use survey data are considered. All 7 methods except propensity score method show the similar performance in our simulation study and real data example. Because all methods are valid only under the conditional independence assumption, the estimation of covariance structure of variables observed only in the one survey and imputed is inefficient in all methods as expected.
