국제투명성기구 CPI와 GDP간의 관계 연구

국문 초록

세계투명성기구에서 매년 발표하는 CPI점수는 두 단계 표준화 과정을 거쳐서 계산됨을 보였다. CPI 점수는 단순 부패인식지수가 아니고 국가경쟁력을 나타내는 지표임을 국가별 CPI와 GDP간의 회귀분석을 통해서 경험적으로 검증하였다. CPI 계산에 이용되는 원천자료를 분석하여 CPI의 1차 표준화 점수에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 CPI를 개선하는 방안을 언급하였다. 이용 가능한 4종의 CPI 원천자료들에 대해서 1차 표준화 점수를 계산하였으며 이 값에 대한 2차 표준화 점수를 베타변환으로 계산하였다. 4개의 2차 표준화 점수들의 평균으로 우리나라 2003년 CPI를 추산하여 실제 CPI 점수와 비교하였다. 또한 CPI가 1점 향상되면 GDP 8892불이 증대되는 효과가 경제활동에서 얻어질 수 있음을 입증하였다.

영문 초록

Transparency International announces the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) every year. We analyzed the regression CPI on the GDP and empirically proved that CPI is not a simple indicator of corruption perception but is a nation’s competitiveness index. We analyzed the source data that was used for computation of CPI to understand the influence on the first standardized score and suggested ways to improve CPI. Four source data are collected and the first standardization scores are calculated from each source data. The second standardization scores are computed from the first standardization scores by the beta transformation, and Korea CPI 2003 is computed by averaging four beta transformed scores. It is proved that the simulated Korea CPI 2003 is similar to TI’s Korea CPI 2003. It has been verified that if CPI increases by 1 point GDP increases by 8,892 US dollars.
