福沢諭吉の天皇観に関する一考察

국문 초록

福沢諭吉は一八八二年󰡔帝室論󰡕を発表するのである。帝室論は国会開設の詔が出された直後に発表されるが、この時期は、帝国議会の開催が現実のものとして迫ってきた時でもある。福沢は、国会での論争が加熱しすぎて日本が内乱状態に陥ることを憂慮していたという。 そして、福沢はこの時期に帝国論の中で｢帝室は遥に政治社会の外に在り。軍人は唯この帝室を目的にして運動するのみ。帝室は偏なく、政党の孰れを捨てず又孰れをも援けず。軍人も亦これに同じ。固より今の軍人なれば陸海軍卿の命に従て進退すべきは無論なれども、卿は唯其形態を支配してその外面の進退を司るのみ。内部の精神を制して其心を収攬するの引力は、独り帝室の中心に在て存するものと知る可し。｣と述べているのである。 ここで本稿では、一八七二年刊行された󰡔学問のすすめ󰡕と一八七五年刊行された󰡔文明論之概略󰡕を中心に彼の天皇観について先行研究の諸説に従いつつ考察し、彼の天皇観の変容を探ってみたいと思う。

영문 초록

Yukichi Fukuzawa published Teishitsuron in 1882. This book was released immediately after the emperor’s edict about the establishment of the Diet was issued. During this time, the Imperial Diet was about to be held. Fukuzawa was concerned with whether arguments in the Diet heat up and lead to a civil war. Furthermore, Fukuzawa states in Teishitsuron: “The emperor family is completely dissociated with the political society. Military personnel act solely with respect to the emperor family, which is neutral to political parties. This holds true of military personnel. While servicemen must obey orders from the head of the Army and the head of the Navy, the heads only govern the Army and the Navy systems. It is the emperor family that affects and converges the spirit of servicemen.” In this paper, we analyze An Encouragement of Learning (1872) and An Outline of a Theory of Civilization (1875) based on previous studies, especially how Fukuzawa’s views of emperors, depicted in these works, were transformed.
