국문 초록

본 연구는 사회적 재난에 의해 일반국민이 경험하는 간접외상의 수준이 개인의 안전 통제소재와 안전 효능감에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상관분석 결과, 연령대나 최종학력 수준과는 달리 성별과 간접외상 수준 사이의 상관이 유의하여 여성은 남성에 비해 사회적 재난에 의한 간접외상의 수준이 더 높았다. 둘째, 위계적 회귀분석 결과, 외적 통제소재 점수가 높을수록 간접외상의 점수도 높았던 반면 내적 통제소재 점수와 안전 효능감 점수가 높을수록 간접외상 점수는 낮았다. 셋째, 간접외상 점수에 대한 외적 통제소재와 안전 효능감 사이의 상호작용 효과가 유의하였다. 즉, 외적 통제소재는 정적으로, 반면 안전 효능감은 부적으로 간접외상의 수준을 각각 유의하게 예측하기는 하였으나 외적 통제소재가 낮은 조건에 비해 높은 조건에서 간접외상 수준에 대한 안전 효능감의 효과가 두드러져 안전 효능감이 낮을수록 간접외상 경험의 수준이 더 높아졌다. 이러한 결과는 사회적 재난에 의해 개인이 경험하는 간접외상의 수준이 안전에 대한 내외 통제소재나 안전 효능감과 같은 심리적 변인들에 대해 차별적으로 조절될 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Individual difference in level of indirect trauma experienced by social disasters according to locus of control and safety efficacy was examined. The main results are as follows. First, there was a significant correlation between gender and indirect trauma level, indicating females tended to show higher levels of indirect trauma due to social disasters than males. Second, hierarchical regression analysis showed that the higher the external locus of control score, the higher the indirect trauma score, while the higher the internal control material score and the safety efficacy score, the lower the indirect trauma score. Third, the interaction effect between external locus of control and safety efficacy on indirect trauma scores was significant. Specifically, although the external locus of control positively, whereas external locus of control and safety efficacy negatively predicted the level of indirect trauma, the effect of the safety efficacy on the indirect trauma level was higher in the high internal locus of control condition than in the low external locus of control condition. These results suggested that the level of indirect trauma experienced by a social disaster can be differentially affected by psychological variables such as internal-external locus of control and safety efficacy.
