박조열 희곡의 모더니즘적 글쓰기 방법 고찰

국문 초록

이 연구는 박조열의 <흰둥이의 방문>을 사례로 들어 알레고리를 사용하는 극작 방식이 어떤 양상을 보이는지를 분석하고자 한다. 또 그 의미를 어떻게 해석할 수 있는지를 분석하고자 한다. 연구 목적의 효과적인 수행을 위해 사례 작품의 알레고리 전략을 비판 전략으로서의 알레고리(2장)와 내러티브 전략으로서의 알레고리(3장)로 나눠 살펴보았다. 그 결과 박조열 희곡의 알레고리적 글쓰기는 철학적인 인식 모델로서 모더니즘적인 글쓰기 방법의 일환이었음을 확인하였다. 첫째, 그의 알레고리 전략은 주체의 세계 인식과 표현을 위한 장치임을 확인하였다. 즉 알레고리가 작가 스스로 당대 사회의 본질 모순을 드러내려는 욕망과 독재 정권의 폭력이라는 외적 규제 사이에 선택할 수 있는 드라마 쓰기 장(場)의 매우 효과적인 테크놀로지 장치라는 점을 확인하였다. 둘째, 그의 알레고리 전략이 장르적 특수성을 효과적으로 보여주는 장치라는 점을 확인하였다. 글쓰기 주체의 세계 인식 내용은 장르적 특수성을 수용하거나 변형함으로써 표현될 수밖에 없는데, 드라마 장르가 독자/관객과의 소통을 극대화하기 위해서는 연극성을 염두에 두어야 한다는 점을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This study has shown the aspects of playwriting using allegory and how to understand the meaning. Allegory could be divided into two parts for the purpose of effective study. One is a strategy of criticism and the other is that of narrative which would be covered in chapter2 and chapter3 each. As a result, it was confirmed that an allegorical writing has been a part of writing method based on the modernism as a model of philosophical recognition in the play written by Park Jo-yeol. Firstly, it was discovered that allegory strategies have been used as a mechanism to recognize the world and express the view of value of the writer. In other words, allegory strategies have functioned as a highly effective technology mechanism that can help the writer trying to choose between intense to reveal essential contradiction and external regulations of the violent dictatorial government. Secondly, it was discovered that allegory strategies have been used as a mechanism to appear the distinct characteristics of the genre effectively. World recognitions of the writer have no choice but to accommodate or transform the distinct characteristics of the genre. In addition to that, especially, a drama should consider theatrical attributes to maximize communication with a lot of readers and audiences.
