유네스코 문학 창의도시 가입전략 연구

국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 유네스코 문학 창의도시 가입 전략을 연구함으로써 문학을 중심으로 한 인문학 진흥과 도시의 발전을 도모함에 있다. 한국의 도시들은 1995년 지방자치제도 시행 이래 지역발전을 추진하기 위한 정책적 노력을 진행해 왔으나 양적 성장에도 불구하고 도시 정체성 확립과 문화적 측면에서 보완해야 할 점이 많다. 이러한 시점에서 유네스코 창의도시 네트워크 가입은 도시의 발전을 견인할 수 있는 좋은 방안으로 평가할 수있다. 이에 본 논문은 연구 대상으로 문학 창의도시로 논의가 되지 않은 전남 목포시를 선정하였다. 연구 방법은 선행연구를 통해 창의도시 개념과 유네스코 창의도시 네트워크의 의의 및 가입 필요성을 파악하였다. 이어 구체적으로 목포의 가입 전략을 논의하였다. 그 결과 목포는 김우진, 박화성, 김현, 차범석, 김지하 등 저명 문인을 배출한 도시로서 그 문학적 자산이 남다르다. 또한, 1930년대부터 문학잡지를 발간하는 등 출판문화가 발달하였으며, 국내 최초의 문학 기념관인 목포문학관은 시민을 위해 다양한 프로그램을 운영하여 복합문학공간으로 자리매김하고 있다. 목포문학제는 목포문학상 시상과 저명 문인들의 문학세계를 재조명하고 있다. 이러한 문학자산에다가 ‘동아시아 문화도시’, ‘세계 책의 수도’ 등 국내외 행사 주최를 통해 문학 도시로 널리 알리고, 문학 관련 창의 산업을 육성하는 등 착실히 준비를 한다면 문학 창의도시로 충분히 가입할 수 있을 것이다. 창의도시 네트워크 가입은 문학을 매개로 한 국제적인 협력과 인적·물적 교류의 증진으로 목포의 글로벌화에 큰 도움이 될 것이다. 본 연구는 유네스코 창의도시 가입을 추진하는 국내 도시들에게 시사하는 바가 크리라고 기대한다.

영문 초록

The goal of this thesis is to promote humanities based on literature and the development of regional cities by researching the accession strategy to the UNESCO Creative City of Literature. Meanwhile, South Korean cities have been implementing various policies to stimulate the regional development, since the institution of the Regional Autonomous System in 1995. However, in spite of the physical growth, cities across the nation have a long road ahead in terms of establishing municipal and cultural identity. In this context, accession to UNESCO Creative Cities of Literature Network will be an effective mean to achieve promotion of literature and development of cities. Specific accession strategy of Mokpo will be discussed. This paper chose Mokpo of South Jella Province, which is not yet discussed as a Creative City of Literature, as the study subject. As a birth place of celebrated literary figures such as Kim Woo Jin, Park Hwa Sung, Kim Hyun, Cha Beom Suk and Kim Ji ha, Mokpo possesses unique cultural heritage of their own. Furthermore, the city has matured the publication culture with the help of the publication of literary magazines since 1930s and is also the home to Mokpo Literary Center, which is the first of its kind in Korea that has established itself as a literary complex through managing different programs for its citizens. Mokpo Literary Fair bestows Mokpo Literary Awards and provides the spotlight to the literary worlds of the celebrated writers. With abundant cultural assets, Mokpo has the potential to become a Creative City of Literature by hosting domestic and foreign festivals such as East Asia Cultural City and by nurturing literature-related creative industries. International cooperation through accession of Creative City Network and the exchange of people and goods will assist the globalization of Mokpo. For domestic cities aiming for the accession to UNESCO Creative Cities of Literature Network, Mokpo’s strategy is anticipated to be a meaningful and valuable guide.
