국문 초록

21세기는 문화와 환경을 화두로 한다. 하지만 아직도 우리는 문화와 산업이 길항적(拮抗的)이라는 정의에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 문화가 상품이 된 21세기에는 인간의 몸을 비롯한 모든 것이 교환가치에 결박되어 있기 때문이다. ‘한라산 인문학 공간에 대한 검토’를 주제로 한 이 연구는 이러한 문제의식에서 출발한다. 천혜의 자연경관으로부터 출발해서 생명, 평화, 문화의 공간에 이른 제주는 없다. 그런 제주가 없다는 것은 역사적이다. 지금까지 제주는 어떤 이름으로 불리는 순간 ‘없는 곳’이 되었기 때문이다. 하지만, 제주와 한라산이 인문학적 공간이 될 수 있다면 역설적이지만 바로 이 지점에서이다. 이를 전제로 하여 이 연구에서는 자연경관과 문화유산, 그리고 실천 현장이라는 점에서 제주의 공간을 분석하여 보았다. 제주의 자연경관은 환경자원이나 관람의 대상이 아니라 역사 이래로 그 곳에서 살면서 이용해온 사람들의 삶터이다. 제주는 중앙의 오래된 역사 흔적을 간직하고 있는 지방이 아니라, 중앙과 따로 또 같이 고유한 지역성을 추구해온 문화유산을 축적하고 있다. 제주는 서로 다른 공간적 실천들이 포개져 만든 공간이다. 따라서 제주와 한라산이 인문학적 공간으로 구축되려면 우선 근현대의 담론공간을 기억하고 구축하는 실천이 이루어져야 한다.

영문 초록

The main topics of the 21st century are culture and environment. However, we cannot help defining that culture and industry are still competitive. It is because all things including the human body are bound by the exchange value in the 21st century in which culture has become a product. This study with the topic of ‘Philosophical Review on the Hallasan(漢拏山, Mt. Halla) as Humanities Space’ starts from the awareness of this problem. Jeju has not been a place that started from a superb natural view and reached the space life, peace and culture. The fact is historical. As soon as Jeju was called a certain name, Jeju has become a “Non-existent Place”. But, if Jeju and Hallasan can be a space of humanities, paradoxically this may be the point. Based on this premise, this study analyzed the space of Jeju that has the characteristics of natural view, cultural heritage and practical field. The natural view of Jeju is not the object of environmental resources or appreciation but the living site of the people who have been living in and using it since the beginning of history. Jeju is not a region which has old historical traces of the center but has been accumulating cultural heritage pursuing original regional characteristics differently from or similarly to the center. Juju is the space where many different spatial realities have been overlapped. Therefore, in order for Jeju and Hallasan to be a space of humanities, first of all it needs practices to memorize and build up the discussion space of modern times.
