국문 초록

이 연구는 현대사회의 복잡한 문제현상을 총체적으로 인식하고 창의적으로 해결해 나가는 데 분과학문 간의 융합이 필요하며, 특히 사회과학과 예술은 역사적으로 실증주의와 고급문화 관념의 후퇴로 사회과학과 예술이 각각 자신의 정체성을 위해 서로를 요청한다는 판단 하에 국내 대학에서 이루어지는 사회과학과 예술의 융합교육의 실태를 체계적으로 파악하는 것을 목적으로 삼았다. 이를 위해 전국 대학들의 인터네 자료를 포괄적으로 검색하고 융합교육 경험이 많은 대학의 교수들에 대한 면담에 근거하여 설문조사 문항을 만들고 이를 토대로 설문조사를 실시하고 그 결과를 해석하는 일종의 혼합연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과 개별 교양교과목에서부터 연계전공, 융합전공, 학생설계전공, 전공학과와 학부 등에 이르기까지 다양한 층위에서 사회과학과 예술의 융합교육이 이루어지고 있다는 점, 특히 문화컨텐츠라는 이름 아래 문화산업에 필요한 인재 양성을 목적으로 인문학과 공학까지를 포괄하는 상당히 범분과적 융합교육의 형식을 띠는 방향으로 발전해 오고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 교육의 질에 있어서는 학생들의 융합교육 경험과 인식에 대한 설문조사에서도 확인할 수 있듯이 다른 융합교육에 비하여 상대적으로 부정적인 인식이 많았다. 결론에서는 그러한 부정적 인식이 많을 수밖에 없는 까닭을 아렌트식의 공공영역 확보의 실패로 보고 이를 확보하기 위해 필요한 교육적 방안을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Against the backdrop of increasing demand of interdisciplinary education from inside and outside of universities in South Korea, this paper aims to grasp the current status of interdisciplinary education between Social Science and Arts in the level of undergraduate course in South Korea. For this purpose, this paper adopts the mixed method of collecting documents from the web sites of all the universities in South Korea and conducting survey, whose items have been developed based upon the results of interviews with professors who have experienced the interdisciplinary education. As results, it is revealed that, first, interdisciplinary education between social studies and arts has been implemented in multi- layered ways from individual courses of general education to interdepartmental majors, interdisciplinary majors, student-designed majors, and some independent departments, second, the department of cultural contents, in particular, which covers from the humanities to the engineering, has emerged from all over the country, and, finally, the rates of negative responses to the questions in regard with interdisciplinary education experiences of students in this area are higher than any other area of interdisciplinary education. In conclusion, the prevalence of negative responses from students has been interpreted as due to the failure of ensuring Arendt’s way of public sphere, required educational plan for which are suggested.
