국문 초록

아이트래커는 지난 10여 년간 국내외의 다양한 연구 분야에서 지속적으로 활용되어 왔다. 아이트래킹 기술은 자외선을 각막에 비춘 후 각막에서 반사되는 자외선을 아이트래커에 장착된 카메라가 추적하여 눈동자의 운동 정보를 분석하는 시스템이다. 눈동자의 움직임이 외부 자극에 대한 단순한 반응이 아니라 뇌의 인지처리과정을 위한 유의미한 운동이라는 점은 최근의 교육 연구 분야에서 아이트래커에 더욱 주목하는 이유가 된다. 눈동자의 움직임과 인지처리와의 관계에 대한 관심은 주로 학습자의 ‘읽기 과정’을 규명하는 연구에서 나타나고 있는데, 이러한 읽기 과정의 특성은 현대 미술교육 연구에서 지속적으로 다루어지고 있는 ‘시각적 문해력’과 그 맥락을 같이 한다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 아이트래커를 활용한 기존 연구 중에서 학습자의 읽기 과정에서 나타나는 특성을 탐색한 선행 연구들을 분석하여 시사점을 도출한 후, 아이트래커의 미술교육적 활용 방안을 고찰해보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 선행연구를 분석한 결과, 학습자의 문제해결 과정을 분석하는 유형, 기존 이론에 대한 증명 및 확장 방안을 탐색하는 유형, 교수ㆍ학습 방법의 효과성을 검증하는 유형으로 나뉘었다. 이와 같은 세 가지 유형에 따라 아이트래커의 미술 교육적 활용 방안을 각각 도출하였다. 본 연구에서는 미술교육적으로 아이트래커를 활용할 수 있는 몇 가지 아이디어를 제시하는 것에 머물렀지만, 각 아이디어들을 더욱 구체화하는 후속 연구들이 이어진다면 대외적으로 미술교육의 정당성과 신뢰성을 한층 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Over the past decade, Eye-tracker has been used in a variety of research fields at home and abroad. Eye-tracking technology is a system that irradiates the ultraviolet rays to the cornea and then the ultraviolet rays reflected from the cornea are tracked by the camera mounted on the Eye-tracker to analyze the motion information of the pupil. The attention of the relationship between the movement of the pupil and the cognitive processing is mainly found in research that identifies the ‘reading process’ of the learner. The characteristics of the reading process are in line with the ‘Visual literacy’ which is continuously studied in contemporary art education research. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the use of Eye-tracker in art education after analyze the previous studies exploring the characteristics of learner’s reading process among the existing studies using Eye-tracker. As a result of analyzing previous research, it was divided into three types: analyzing the problem solving process of the learner, researching for the plans to prove and expand existing theories, and verifying the effectiveness of teaching and learning methods. Based on these three types, the use of Eye-tracker in art education was derived. In this study, it was only to present some ideas to utilize Eye-Tracker as art education. But if follow-up studies that further refine each idea are followed, it is expected that the legitimacy and reliability of art education can be enhanced externally.
