새마을교육의 교육사회학적 함의 -지역사회 교육네트워킹 체계구축을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 글은 지역사회 교육네트워킹 체계구축 차원에서 새마을교육의 교육사회학적 의의와 목표를 검토하고, 그에 연동하여 지역성이 반영된 학교교육의 이념과 실제사례를 새마을교육에서 찾으려 했다. 지금까지 학교교육은 명문대를 겨냥해 학교간 및 학생간의 접수경쟁을 유발시키는데 충실하였고, 대신 지역 실정에 적합한 지역문화를 창출하고 이를 통해 지역민의 의식개혁과 혁신에 이룰 수 있는 지역사회학교의 이념을 구현할 수 없었다. 그것은 학교교육을 지역사회 네트워킹차원에서 보지 않고 개별단위 학교차원으로 바라보고 접근하여 학교를 지역사회와 고립ㆍ독립된 것으로 운영하였기 때문이다. 학교가 지역사회와 연계되지 않고 독자적으로 운영될 때 우리 학교교육의 고질적 병폐인 성적과 접수가 과잉 강조되는 명문대 지향의 교육사회학적 현상에서 벗어날 수 없다. 새마을교육은 시작에서부터 지역사회 교육네트워킹 체계구축을 통해 교육과정의 지역화와 지역사회의 문화창출자 내지 조정자 역할을 담당하면서 지역밀착형 인재를 키우려 하였으며, 지역민의 정신계발과 의식개혁을 추구하고자 하였다. 요컨대 새마을교육은 지역사회 담당자들의 교육네트워킹 구축에 의한 새로운 교육적 패러다임(질서)을 수립하려 했으며, 나아가 그를 통해 지역문화 창출자로서의 정신계몽역할을 추구하려 하였다.

영문 초록

In this paper, we tried co review the significance and reality of Sae-ma-eul education and to examine the successful cases in school education reflecting the local community situation in the aspect of Sae-ma-eul educarion. Until now, school education couldn’t have ensured the harmonious democratic citizenship between oneself and others causing keen score competition among schools. In this competitive situation, school education has been failed co reflect the local community culture and couldn’t achieved the ideas of local community school education. That is why the school education wasn’t considered as a part of local community networking system, rather than considered as an isolated unit far from local community. If school can’t be connected by local community and operated independently, it will not escape from the distorted educational phenomenon so called the record(score)-ideology. The Sae-ma-eul education could be contribute to a regionalization of curriculum and the newly educational paradigm through the local community education networking construction. And the Sae-ma-eul education could be able to foster a region-oriented people based on the local community. Also the Sae-ma-eul education has focused on the spiritual enlightenment and consciousness reform of local community residents. In sum, the Sae-ma-eul education could be contribute to the establishment of the newly educational paradigm in the face of the coming of knowledge and information society.
