초등교사의 실과교과서 선정과정에 대한 탐구

국문 초록

이 연구는 초등교사가 실과교과서를 선정하는 과정과 그 과정에서 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대하여 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위하여 교과서 선정 경험이 있는 초등 교사를 대상으로 Focus Group Interview를 실시하였으며 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실과교과서를 선정하는데 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 교육과정의 개정이다. 교육과정이 개정되지 않은 경우에는 기존의 교과서를 계속해서 사용하고 있었으며, 교과서를 사용하는 과정에 불편함이 있어도 교과서를 바꾸기 보다는 교사의 전문성에 의존하여 문제를 해결하고 있었다. 둘째, 교육과정이 개정되어 실과교과서를 교체할 수 있는 상황이 되면 교과서 선정위원을 통하여 교과서를 새롭게 선정하고 있었다. 다만 이 과정에서 교과서 선정위원에 대한 부정적인 의견이 많았다. 가장 큰 문제는 전문성이 떨어진다는 점이었으며 교과서 선정에 투입되는 시간적 한계, 지나치게 많은 교과서, 체크리스트의 미활용과 같은 문제점을 제기하였다. 셋째, 교사들은 본인이 충분한 시간을 가지고 실과교과서를 선정한다면 교과서 내용, 교과서 디자인, 교과서의 이미지, 교수 학습 자료에 중점을 두고 평가하고자 하였다. 연구의 결과에 따른 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등교사가 실과 교과서를 선정하는 가상의 경험을 제공할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 실과교과의 특징을 반영한 실과교과서 선정 체크리스트를 만들 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to search the process of elementary school teachers selection of practical arts textbook and the factors influencing their choice of the text book. To accomplish this purpose, focus group interview was conducted on elementary school teachers who had experience in selecting textbooks. The results of the study are as follows. First, the most important factor influencing teachers’ selection of textbooks is the revision of curriculum. If the curriculum was not revised, the existing textbooks continued to be used. In spite of the inconvenience of using the textbooks, the problem was solved by relying on the professionalism of the teachers rather than changing the textbooks. Second, when the curriculum has been revised and practical arts textbook would be replaced by newly selected ones through the textbook selection committee members. However, there were many negative opinions about the process in which committee members select text books. The biggest problem was the lack of expertise, which raised issues of tme limit for selection of textbooks, over choices of textbooks, and unscientific textbook selection checklists. Third, teachers tried to focus on evaluating textbook contents, textbook design, textbook images, and teaching and learning materials if they had enough time to select textbooks. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, it is necessary for elementary school teachers to be provided with a virtual experience of selecting practical arts textbook. Second, it is necessary to create a checklist for selection of practical arts textbook that reflects the characteristics of practical arts subject textbook.
