애도 장신구의 기억 표상에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본 논문은 기억 표상의 의미작용을 통해 애도에 천착한 롤랑 바르트 Roland Barthes, 1915- 1980의 사상을 기반으로 애도 장신구의 의미를 분석하였다. 보편적 타자가 아닌 사랑하는 대상을 죽음으로 상실했을 때, 그 대상에 대한 기억은 그 사람을 대리했던 물성에서 찾을 수 있다. 이를 근거로 사물의 의미를 조명해 봄으로써, 부재의 장소 안에서 기억 표상을 가능하게 하는 애도 장신구의 단자적 특성을 분석하였고, 기억된 과거가 이미지로 드러나게 됨을 살펴보았다. 또한, 부재라는 조건으로서의 기억이 이미지를 작동시키고 그 움직임은 어떻게 기억을 되풀이하게 하는지 알아보고, 망각과 기억의 이중구조 안에서 잠재적 미래의 기억이 깨어나는 과정을 제시하였다. 이어서 사물의 본질은 자기를 보존하려는 노력(코나투스)이라고 말한 스피노자의 논의를 접목하여, 단자(單子)적 사물이 지시하는 내부의 구조를 파악하고, 비동일성의 주관적 인식을 기저로 사물이 무한한 독해의 확장성을 지님을 밝히고자 했다. 사례로는 회화적 기법의 은유(隱喩)적 물성, 사진의 환유(換喩)적 물성, 오브제의 즉물(卽物)적 물성을 제시하였고, 그 층위들이 위치하는 의미에 주목하였다. 본 논문은 애도가 발화하는 부재의 장소를 사상적, 문학적 텍스트를 통해 탐구하고, 기억이 표상하는 담론을 제시함으로써 애도 장신구가 함의하는 물성의 애도 가능성을 분석하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the meaning of accessories for condolences based on the thoughts of Roland Barthes, 1915-1980 who inquired into condolences through signification of memory presentation. When not a universal person but a loved one is lost by death, the memory of the lost one can be found in properties of objects that substituted him or her. By examining the meaning of objects on the basis of Barthes’ argument, this study analyzed monadic characteristics of accessories for condolences which enable memory presentation in the place of absence and examined that the memorized past is shown as images. This study also inquired into how the memory as the condition of absence triggers images and how the movement replays the memory and suggested the process of potential future memory awakening inside the dual structure of oblivion and memory. In terms of the nature of objects, the study identified the inner structure that monadic objects indicate, and tried to reveal the unlimited expandability of interpreting objects based on the subjective perception of nonidentity. In terms of cases, this study proposed metaphorical properties of pictorial techniques, metonymic properties of photographs, and ostensive properties of objects, then noted the significance of those levels. This study researched places of absence where condolences ignite through ideological and literary texts and analyzed the possibility of condolences in the implied properties of accessories for condolences by suggesting a discussion of memory presentation.
