다문화 가정 학생들의 과학 학습 동기 수준 및 구조 분석

국문 초록

다문화 가정 학생들의 비율 증가와 그 학생들을 위한 효율적인 과학 학습의 요구 가 높아지고 있지만 다문화 가정 학생들에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이 연구는 다문화가정 학생들과 일반 학생들의 과학 동기의 수준과 구조를 비교 분석하기 위해 진행되었다. 이 연구를 위해서 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 및 중학교 1학년 다문화 가정 학 생 47명, 일반 학생 119명이 참여하였다. 참여 학생을 대상으로 직업 동기, 학습 내용 의 관련성 인식, 과학 점수 동기, 과학 수업의 필요성, 과학 수업에 대한 자기 의지, 자아 효능감, 과학 수업의 즐거움의 7개 변인의 수준과 구조를 비교하였다. 연구 결 과 다문화 가정 학생들의 과학 학습 동기는 일반 학생들에 비하여 직업 동기는 높은 동기 수준을 보였으며 그 외 과학 학습 동기에는 변화가 없었다. 다문화 가정 학생들 의 직업 동기와 자아 효능감이 다른 과학 학습 동기 요소들에 미치는 영향력은 일반 학생들에 비하여 더 높게 나타났다. 경로분석과 회귀 분석에서 다문화 가정 학생들 의 과학 학습 동기 모델이 일반 학생들의 모델에 비하여 상대적으로 단순하였다. 다 문화 가정 학생들의 과학 학습 동기가 쉽게 변화 될 수 있다는 장점과 함께, 상대적 으로 일반 학생들에 비하여 외생변인이 상대적으로 적게 노출되어 왔음을 보여준다. 이 연구 결과는 다문화 가정 학생들의 과학 학습 동기를 향상시키기 위해서는 직업 동기를 강화시키는 전략과 함께 학생들이 스스로 할 수 있다는 자아 효능감을 높여 주는 것이 필요할 것으로 보여준다.

영문 초록

Although the demand of effective science teaching for students from multicultural families have been increased due to the increase of students from multicultural families, few studies on students from multicultural families have been done. This study aims to investigate the level and structure of students from multicultural families’ science learning motivation. For this study, 47 students from multicultural families and 119 general students participated in survey. We administered a questionnaire that consisted of seven science motivation components: 1) career motivation; 2) science grade motivation; 3) understanding the relevance of scientific knowledge; 4) need for learning science; 5) self-determination; 6) self-efficacy; and 7) attitudes toward science class. We employed independent t-test, path analysis, bivariate correlation, and stepwise multiple-regression for the statistical analyses. The results illustrated that the effect of career motivation and self-efficacy to other science learning motivation were stronger than general students’. The path analysis and regression analysis showed that students from multicultural families’ science learning model was simpler than general student’s. This result illustrated that students from multicultural families’ science learning motivation can be more easily changed than general students’, however, this result showed that students from multicultural families have been exposed to few external variables impacting their science learning motivation. This study showed that students from multicultural families’ career motivations and self-efficacy should be strengthened in order to promote their science learning motivation.
