마이스터 고등학교 학생의 학업생활에 관한 탐색적 연구

국문 초록

최근 정부의 ‘선취업 후진학’의 정책으로 고등학교 졸업과 동시에 취업을 목적으로 하는 마이스터 고등학교가 2010년부터 지정․운영되고 있다. 본 연구는 미시적관점에서 마이스터고 3학년 학생 6명과 심층면담을 통해서 전반적인 학업생활의 모 습을 질적 연구 방법으로 면밀히 살펴보았고 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들의 학교에 대한 소속감은 매우 높았고 “명문고”라고 인식하며 후배에게 추천해주고 싶다는 반응이 대부분이었다. 둘째, 교육과정과 학교의 실습 시설과 환경에 대한 학교만족도가 높았다. 한편 취업 준비를 위해서 인사예절과 단정한 몸가짐을 강조하는 엄격한 생활지도가 이루어지고 있었다. 셋째, 수업에 대한 인식에서는 전문교과 수업에 대한 만족도가 높고 전문 교과 교사를 “마이스터”로 존경하는 분위기였고 교사들에 대한 신뢰감이 컸다. 넷째, 진로에 대한 인식에서는 선취 업에 대한 기대감과 함께 미취업에 대한 부담도 컸다. “인턴쉽 과정”은 입사 전 업무를 위해서 필요한 유익한 경험으로 생각하고 있었고, 정부의 ‘선취업 후진학’ 정책에 대해서는 고졸 취업자에 대한 사회적 편견이 줄어들 것으로 인식하고 있었다.

영문 초록

The government has set up meister high schools since 2010 in accordance with its policy named work first and study later . Meister high schools aim at teaching students to find a job immediately after their graduation. The purpose of this study was to examine the overall academic lives of six selected meister high school seniors from a micro perspective by adopting a qualitative research method. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the students had a strong sense of belonging to their school. Most of them regarded their school as a prestigious high school and liked to recommend it to their juniors in school. Second, they expressed much satisfaction with the curriculum, laboratories and environments. Strict guidance was offered for them to learn courtesy and how to behave in preparation for employment. Third, as for awareness of instruction, they were highly satisfied with instruction of specialized subjects. It seemed that they respected vocational teachers as meister and put great confidence in them. Fourth, regarding awareness of career, they expected to get a job early, but fear for unemployment put a strain on them at the same time. They thought that internship programs would give them a useful experience to acquire job skills before employment, and that the government s work-first-study-later policy would contribute to weakening social prejudice against employees with a high school diploma.
