농도학원의 교육 활동과 농민독본 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 ‘응세농도학원’의 설립 과정과 교육활동상을 고찰하고, 동 학원에서 발간한 응세농민독본을 분석하는데 있다. 연구 내용을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 응세농도학원은 일종의 농민훈련소로, 농촌 청년을 대상으로 농촌지도자를 양성하는 교육기관에 속한다. 특히 이 학원은 1930년대에 전개되었던 일제의 농촌진흥운동의 일환으로 설립되었다는 점이 주목된다. 응세농도학원의 교육 내용은 농업 이론과 실습으로 분류되며, 그외의과목은기초소양교육으로간략하게교육했다. 한편응세농도학원에서는응세농민독본을 발간하여 교재로 사용했다. 이 교재는 본 학원의 교육 내용을 실제적으로 보여주는 자료로서, 현재 1권만이 전해지고 있다. 총 8편으로 구성되었으며, 1편은 훈화, 2~3편은 일본어와 조선어 등의 언어학습, 4~8편은 농업 경영의 실제 지식 등으로 이루어져 있다. 문종면에서 보면 2편은 산문이 대부분이며, 3편은 노동요나 시조, 일기문과 서간문, 극문학, 설명문, 격언, 수수께끼 등 문형이 다양하다. 한편 4~8편은 농사법과 관련된 설명문이 대부분이다. 내용면에서 보면 ‘일본어와 조선어 문자 교육’, ‘국책 부응의 자력갱생 교육’, ‘농촌생활의 실제와 농사법 관련의 실용교육’으로 요약된다. 1930년대는 각종농민단체, 교육단체, 언론사, 행정기관등의농민교육이활발하게전개된시기이다. 여기에 농도학원의 교육까지 더해져1930년대는농민(노동자) 대상의간이교육이극대화된 시기라고 할 수 있다. 특히 본고에서 살펴본 응세농도학원은 이론과 실용교육까지 겸한농민학교로서 의의를 지닌다. 그러나 친일적인 성향과 원생들의 노동 착취의 측면에서는 재고의 여지가 있다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

This research aims at considering establishment and educational activities of ‘Unsei Nongdo Academy’ and analyzing Unsei Reading book for peasant used for textbook. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, Unsei Nongdo Academy is a kind of training school for peasant and it is an educational institution for a rural youth to cultivate leader of peasant. Specially, it is noted that this academy is established for part of the Japanese campaign for rural development performed in 1930s. Training course of Unsei Nongdo Academy is classified into theory and practice and the subjects other than agricultural theory and practice were briefly taught as basic literacy education. Meanwhile, Unsei Nongdo Academy published Unsei Nongmin Dokbon for textbook. This textbook is a practical presentation of the contents of the education and only one book is being passed. It is composed of 8 sections, and it can be reclassified as follows; section 1 is instruction, sections 2~3 for language learning such as Japanese and Korean, sections 4~8 for practical knowledge of agricultural management. In terms of type of article, section 2 is mostly prose, section 3 is diverse such as labor, poetry, diary, epistles, commentary, proverbs, mystery, etc. On the other hand, sections 4~8 are mostly related to the agricultural law. In terms of content, it is summarized by ‘Self-supportin rehabilitation education fulfilled with national policy’ and ‘Practical rural life and practical education related to farming method.’ In the 1930s, peasant education was active in various farming organizations, educational organizations, and media companies. In addition, Nongdo Academy and other peasant education activities were established as part of the rural promotion campaign. In the 1930s, it can be said that the simplified education for farmers was maximized. Especially, Unsei Nongdo Academy educated theory and practice. Therefore, it is a meaningful educational institution. However, it has pro-Japanese tendencies. They exploited the labor of students. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider this academy.
