국문 초록

본 연구는 최근 교육과정 개혁이 이루어진 핀란드와 캐나다 브리티시 콜롬비아주(이하 BC)의 사례를 핵심 역량 개발을 위한 교육과정 측면에서 분석함으로써 2015 개정 교육과정 실행 지원 및 향후 우리나라 교육과정 개정에 주는 시사점을 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 핀란드와 BC의 교육과정 개혁의 배경 및 중점을 살펴본 후 수학 교과를 중심으로 핀란드와 BC의 역량 개발을 위한 교육과정구성을 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 두 교육과정은 각각 공통 역량과 핵심 역량 개발을 교육과정 개혁의 강조점으로 제시하고 있다. 둘째, 두 교육과정 모두 역량을 학년(군)별 교육과정에 반영하였고 역량의 종적 계열성이 제시되었으나 접근 방식은 다르게 나타났다. 셋째, 역량과 교과 교육과정의 연계성 측면에서 핀란드는 교과 목표와 공통 역량간의 관련성을, BC는 핵심 역량과 연계된 교과 역량을 제시하였다. 마지막으로, 두 교육과정 모두 역량 평가가 교과 평가와 연계되어 이루어지고 있었다. 연구결과를 토대로 핵심역량 개발을 위한 교육과정 개선 측면에서 2015 개정 교육과정 실행 지원 및 향후 교육과정 개정을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study explores future implications on curriculum reform emphasizing core competencies in Korea by examining recent curriculum reform in Finland and British Columbia(hereafter BC) in Canada. By analyzing curriculum documents and related literature based on the review of the backgrounds and major directions of curriculum reform in each country, we found significant implications on the future directions of Korean curriculum reform. Similar to 2015 national revised curriculum in Korea, the Finnish and BC curricula put core competencies and transversal competencies at the center of curriculum reform to meet individual needs and social changes. However, unlike Korean curriculum, the Finnish and BC curricula set up core competencies closely linked with learning standards at each grade band or embedded and evident within learning standards at each grade level. Detailed useful information and data from student work and classroom instruction at school settings were provided to help design and implement the new curriculum. Assessment has been developed along with the changes of curriculum. Finally, explicit and close connections among core competencies, curricular competencies, content, and big ideas are necessary to enhance student learning.
