국문 초록

페이스북은 2004년 조그마한 하버드 대학생들의 프로필 사진을 제공하는 조그마한 서비스였다. 하지만 이후 성장을 거듭하여 세계적인 소셜 네트워크 서비스(Social Network Service)가 되면서 다양한 커뮤니케이션 및 콘텐츠 유통 사이트로 성장하였다. 초기 페이스북은 오픈 플랫폼(open platform) 전략을 내세우면서, 많은 3rd party들을 참여시키면서 기존 이용자 그룹과 개발자 그룹을 연결시키는 플랫폼 역할을 강화시키게 된다. 이후 페이스북 운영에 대한 명확한 표준과 규칙을 바탕으로 참여자들을 이끌며, 지속적인 혁신과 확장을 통해 플랫폼의 가치를 높이고 있다. 본 논문은 페이스북의 사례를 통해 다면시장에서의 플랫폼 강화 전략이 경쟁우위 확보에 어떻게 작용하는지 알아보고자 한다.

영문 초록

Facebook was a little service which provided small profile photos of Harvard University students in 2004. But after this it repeated growth and as it became worldwide social network service it has grown up to be the site of various communications and content distributions. The early-stage facebook fully used open platform strategy and let many 3rd parties participate in and reinforced the role of platform which connected existing user groups and developer groups. Afterward, on the foundation of clear standard and regulation of the operation of facebook it is leading the participators, and through continuous innovation and expansion it raising the level of the value of the platform. This thesis is to understand how the platform reinforcement strategy in Multi-sided market acts for securing competitive advantage through the example of the facebook.
