영문 초록

Is it possible that the paradigms exist in regional development studies? If it is, how can we recognize and classify them? And then, next issues remain how to position the present main stream and reorient it in the globalization era. This article describes the relevant theories and methods needed to answer those questions, and enlarge the frontiers of the studies. Also, the recent changes, newly occured in the development environment, make the opportunity to draw the shifting in the main stream. Those changes are, for example, the intensive and complicated land use pattern according to the high industrialization, the development system under full-scale local autonomy, the apperarance of global regions, and the new approaches and views in the adjacent social sciences such as postmodernism. The paradigms here refered are classified into liberal, neo-populist, radical, and postmodern one.
