학교기반 학습컨설팅이 저소득층 학습부진학생의 학업동기 및 읽기전략 향상에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 학교기반 학습컨설팅을 저소득층 밀집 지역에 위치한 공립 중학교 학습부진학생을 대상으로 실시하여 그 효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 윤채영과 김정섭(2015)의 학교기반 학습컨설팅 모형에서 제시된 학습컨설팅 과정에 따라 도입→진단→실행계획수립→실행이 이루어지고, 실행에 개입된 시험 관리개입의 효과가 크게 나타나지 않아, 더 기초적인 학습전략능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 처치가 필요하다고 판단하고 다시 진단→실행계획수립과정을 거쳐 최종적으로 처치된 개입프로그램은 읽기전략에 관한 것 이었다. 연구대상은 중학교 2학년 학습부진학생 20명(실험 10명, 통제 10명)이며, 연구기간은 2011년 2-12월까지 약 1년이다. 개입프로그램은 방과후에 매주 90분 간(2차시씩) 전체 20회기 총 40차시 실시되었다. 학습컨설팅의 효과는 학업동기 검사와 읽기전략 검사를 실시하여 중다공변량분석(MANCOVA)하는 방식으로 검증하였다. 그 결과, 읽기전략에서는 집단 간 유의미한 차이가 있었으나, 학업동기에서는 통계 적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 학습부진 학생들의 인지적인 변화가 정서적 변화로 쉽게 전이되지 않으며, 특히 중학교 학습부진학생들에게는 학업동기와 같은 정서적 변화가 학업성취 도와 직접적인 연관이 있으므로 개입 방안이 교과학습으로 전이되도록 스스로 연습할 수 있는 기간을 거친 후, 학생들의 학업동기가 어떻게 변화하였는지 확인할 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 학교기반 학습컨설팅이라는 수요자 중심의 교육서비스를 바탕으로 학교구성원들과 협의하여 공교육 체제 내에서 저소득층 학습부진학생들의 학습문제를 진단-처치한 학교현장 중심의 실천연구라는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to apply the learning consultation and examine the effect of the intervention on academic motivation and reading strategies to 8th- grade -underachievers from low-income family as after school program. The learning consulting was proceeded 5 stages from an entry, a diagnosis, planning interventions, an implementation, a disengagement. In the process, learning consultants found out the school's needs requesting the learning consulting that the underachieved students from low-income family acquired deficient learning strategies, but the school didn't have definite ideas why the students didn't have enough learning motivation and which learning strategies they particularly were needed. Therefore, the learning consultants figured out the reasons of the academic deficiency through the diagnosis process, formulated a intervention, and implemented the plan. This study was based on pretest-posttest experimental design. A total of 20 underachieved students in the 8th grade from low-income family participated as subjects, of whom 10 students participated in the learning consulting implementation as experimental group and a further 10 subjects formed the control group. The experimental group took part in reading strategies education program as an intervention. The program was applied to the experimental group for 20 sessions for a school year. Academic and Motivation Reading Strategy Scales were administrated to all the subjects as the pre and post-test. To verify the effects of the experiment, an MANCOVA was conducted. Mean scores on reading strategy of the experimental group increased, but those of the control group did not. However, the scores on academic motivation had no differences between the groups. As a result, the learning consulting appeared to help the underachieved students from low-income family to increase the level of reading strategies using, but not to help them to have instant positive learning motivation.
