<옥루몽>, 성애(性愛) 표현의 서사적 기능과 은폐된 폭력성

국문 초록

19세기 소설 <옥루몽>은 <구운몽>을 다시 읽어 풍류적 삶을 확대시키는 쪽으로 이야기를 확장시켰다. 그래서 <옥루몽>에는 인간 감정과 욕망의 자연스러운 긍정적 서술이 <구운몽>보다 많다. 인간 감정을 긍정적으로 인식하는 시각은 <옥루몽> 서두에 관음의 언술에서도 드러나는데, 이런 감정과 욕망이 가장 잘 드러난 것이 성애(性愛) 표현이다. <옥루몽>에는 다양한 성애 표현이 있는데 작가는 이런 성애 표현을 통해 서사의 활성화와 개연성 확보를 꾀하였고 효과적으로 이를 달성하였다. 그런데 이렇게 드러난 성애 표현은 당대 이데올로기와 남성 풍류 시각에 의해 여성에게 가해지는 폭력성을 은폐시키는 효과를 유발하였다. 이는 작가가 의도한 것은 아니지만 소설 독서를 통해 독자들에게 교육되고 고착되어 재생산되는 기제를 형성하게 되었다. 잠자는 여성을 친압하는 것은 분명 폭력적 상황이지만, 가해자가 긍정적 인물이고 남성이며, 피해자가 기녀이며 여성이라는 상황으로 인해 그 폭력성은 쉽게 풍류로 인식되어 버린다. 또 국가의 중요한 사명을 띤 원정(遠征)중 군중에서 사적으로 여성과 동침하는 것은 분명 잘못임에도 불구하고, 여성이 첩이고 남성이 가부장이라는 논리에 의해 본질이 호도되어 버린다. 특히 가부장 양창곡은 이런 과정을 통해 여성 장수 '홍혼탈'에게 장수로서의 정체성을 스스로 버리게 하고 순종적인 첩 '강남홍'의 위치로 전락하게 만든 것으로, 이것은 여성 영웅이 전쟁을 마친 후 집안에 편입된 이후에 가해지는 가부장제의 억압이 아니라, 여성 영웅으로 활약하는 시기에 가해지는 가부장제의 폭력이라는 점에서 가부장제의 확산으로 이해된다. 양장성이 활을 쏘아 공주의 얼굴을 온갖 사람들에게 드러나게 한 것은 풍류와 가부장제 논리가 섞여 그 폭력성이 사라진 경우이다. 이때에도 공주는 아직 결연하지 않았지만, 양장성이 미래에 가부장이 될 것이라는 점에서 이런 폭력적 행위는 정당화되고 상황은 풍류로 미화된다. 특히 공주의 모친까지 이에 대해 풍류의 행위로 인식하는 역할을 함으로써 그 폭력적 행위는 완전히 긍정된다. 이 세 경우는 모두 남성 위주의 정복욕을 자극하는 폭력적 상황으로 그대로 강간담론과 통하고 그 상황은 포르노그래피적으로 장면화된다. 그러나 폭력성이 은폐됨으로 인해 성애 표현은 단순히 흥미 있고 재미있는 있을 법한 이야기로 독자들에게 호도된다. 결국 <옥루몽>의 성애 표현은 작가가 서사의 활성화와 개연성의 강조를 위해 사용했지만, 그것에 의도하지 않게 당대 사회의 여성에 대한 폭력성이 은폐되어 나타났다. 이는 소설을 수용하는 독자들에게 그대로 교육적 기능을 하게 되어 남성 풍류와 가부장제 논리는 타당하고 마땅한 것으로 인식하게 하는 효과를 드리웠다.

영문 초록

Nam young-ro(南永魯) lived in the 19th Centuries reread with his own creative genius and created . created story enlarged pleasure and happiness of man's living. So, had desire of a human being better than . In the beginning of , the Buddhist Goddess of Merry(觀世音菩薩) Preached about man's desire. Eroticized representation show well these desires. In had many eroticized representation. A writer use that for activating a narrative and raising probability. And that purpose was achieved effectively. However those eroticized representation led an unexpected result. That is hiding violence on the women by a man's elegance and the ideology in present age. That is not writer's intention, but the readers of that text had brainwashed without knowing what one is doing and reproduced that mechanism. A man attacks a woman who was in the sleeping is a undoubtedly violence. But that violence was not recognized, because an offender was man and an affirmative character and, a victim was woman and a powerless called kisaeng(妓生) so, that situation was rationalized by man's elegance. The another case, a man had a general and he was gone on an expedition against the enemy. This situation is very important mission to nation. In this situation he forgot his sense of mission duty and slept together with his mistress. Moreover his mistress refused continually and his mistress was a general not a mistress that time. However that situation also was rationalized by patriarchy mechanism. A patriarch Yang chang-gok(楊昌曲) forced woman general Hong hon-tal(紅渾脫) to give up her accomplishment and her identity and down-fell in the state of mistress who should be obeyed her patriarch. This mechanism is important that time is not woman general went to a family but woman general was acted in the war. So that is patriarchy's spreading. A royal princess' face was come out in many man's eye by shooting a bow an arrow is violence, too. This case is hiding violence of man's elegance and ideology of patriarchy. An offender was a man who will be married in the future, but he forced his future wife, princess to come out her face for his fulfillment on desire for conquest against woman. That action justified by man's elegance and ideology of patriarchy. That action is same with rape situation. Especially even princess' mother admit his action, so that situation became a situation of pornography and women become a porno actress. But eroticized representation was reading with a interest, amusement and enjoyment by hiding a violence. Eroticized representation in had described for activating a narrative and raising probability. But that description had a hiding violence on the women without intentionally. So the reader of that text had brainwashed without knowing what one is doing and reproduced that mechanism.
