국문 초록

이 글에서는 <시집살이노래>를 대상으로 전통 사회에서 시집간 여자들이 가족을 어떻게 바라보고 어떻게 노래했는지를, 시집식구와의 관계를 다룬 노래와 남편과의 관계를 다룬 노래를 통해 살펴보았다. 시집식구와의 관계를 다룬 노래에서 시집간 여자들은 어느 가족에도 진정한 구성원이 되지 못하는 주변인으로 나타난다. 그러나 시집간 여자들은 그 가족의 변경에서 자신들만의 노래를 만들어 냈다. 변경은 일상생활 속에서 억압받던 자아가 죽고 새로운 자아가 태어나는 공간으로서, 새로운 자아가 가족의 변경에 서서 사랑으로 가득 찬 새로운 공동체를 꿈꾸는 노래가 바로 <시집살이노래>이다. 남편과의 관계를 다룬 노래에서 여자들은 자유로운 사랑과 혼인을 꿈꾸고 자신의 성적 욕망을 표현하였으며, 이를 외면하는 남편을 응징함으로써 잘못된 혼인 제도와 규범을 비판하고 자유로운 사랑에의 열망을 드러내었다. 이로써 시집간 여자가 가장 원했던 것은 기존 가족 제도에 얽매이지 않는 부부간의 진실한 사랑, 그 사랑에 기반한 새로운 가족임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 가족은 종속 관계로 이루어진 가부장적 집단이 아니라 상호 배려로 이루어지는 동등한 관계의 공동체일 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper investigated how the life and consciousness of women is configurated in Sijipsarinorae. Sijipsarinorae is the song which the married woman expresses her conflicts with the family of her husband. Therefore it shows the relationship of family members and the married women's recognition about the family. As the results of this study, we could find that Sijipsarinorae investigated here reveals the consciousness of women as follows. The married woman is expressed as the marginal person of family in Sijipsarinorae. She sings her own song in the margin of family. The margin is not only the space of the oppression and the silence, but also the space of the self- awareness. The new self is born after the death of the oppressed self in that space. The new self is a married woman herself in Sijipsarinorae. She dreams the new community full of love standing on the margin of family. The married woman dreams the love and marriage of her own free will, and she express the sexual desire in Sijipsarinorae. She curses and punishes men averting from her desire, so she reveals the consciousness of the resistance about the normative law and the ardent wish for love of her own free will. As the result, we could understand that the married women have intense aspirations toward the true love between a husband and a wife unrestrained by the family system. They also have intense aspirations toward the new family based on the love. The new family should be not a patriarchal, subordinate one, but a mutual, coordinate one.
