김우철 시 평가 양상을 통해 본 북한 문학사 서술 변화

국문 초록

북한 문학사가 북한 체제의 성립과 더불어 고안된 사실은 이미 알려진 바다. 북한 문학사는 1946년 토지개혁과 민주개혁의 완성, 1948년 조선민주주의 인민공화국 정부 수립, 1949년 조소 및 국제주의 친선, 1953~1956년 반종파 투쟁, 1956년 도식주의 비판, 1958년 사회주의 개조 완성, 1959년 부르주아 잔재와의 투쟁, 1967년 반종파 투쟁 등의 영향을 받으면서 서술 변화를 거쳐 왔다. 이러한 서술 변화는 '김일성을 주체로 하는 민족해방서사의 틀을 잡는 과정'에서 일어난 불가결한 현상이었다. 본 글은 1950년~1990년대 사이에 출판된 5종의 북한 문학사를 대상으로, 이들 문학사에 수록ㆍ평가된 김우철 시 작품을 통해 체제 변화에 따른 문학사 서술 변화를 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 북한 문학사 서술 변화의 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1959년판 문학사는 조소 및 국제주의 친선 주제를 중시하였고, 도식주의에 대한 비판이 일면서 비판ㆍ풍자 작품에 대한 비교적 자유로운 평가가 가능했다. 둘째, 1978년판 문학사부터는 주체문예이론이 공식화됨으로써 수령 칭송 주제와 항일혁명 주제가 강조되었다. 이는 1967년 유일사상 확립 이후 김일성 권력의 절대화 과정과 관련된다. 셋째, 모든 북한 문학사는 정도의 차이는 있지만 민족 해방 및 건설의 감격으로써 토지개혁의 의의와 수령 형상 주제를 중요하게 다루었다. 이로써 1959년판 문학사 서술이 마르크스 레닌주의 방법에 기초하여 카프 문학을 북한 문학 전통으로 세우는 데 기여하였다면, 1978년판 이후 문학사 서술은 주체 방법에 기초하여 항일혁명 문학을 북한 문학 전통으로 세우는 데 기여하였음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

It is well known that the literary history of North Korea was devised along with establishment of the North Korean regime. There has been narrative change in North Korean literary history throughout the land reform and the democratic revolution in 1946, establishment of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1948, Korea-Soviet Union and internationalism friendship in 1949, the anti-sectarian struggle from 1953 to 1956, criticism against schematism in 1956, the completion of socialism reconstruction in 1958, the fight against remnants of bourgeois in 1959, and the anti-sectarian fight in 1967. The narrative change had been an indispensable one "in the process of framing narration of national liberation led by its leader, Kim, Il-Sung." This thesis is to review Woo-cheol Kim's poems in five kinds of North Korean Literary History published from 1950 to the 1990s to see the narrative change of North Korean literary history throughout regime change. Woo-cheol Kim's poems were classified into those only in the 1959 version, others from the 1978 version, and the others in all versions. As a result, the characteristics of narrative change of North Korean literary history is as follows: First, the narrative change in the 1959 version highlighted the theme of Korea-Soviet Union and internationalism friendship, and literary works with criticism and satire were relatively freely evaluated as there was criticism against schematism tendency at that time. Second, the characteristics of narration appeared from the 1978 version was that the themes of praise of its leader and revolution against Japan were emphasized as the Juche literary theory was formulated. Third, the common narrative characteristics in all versions of North Korean literary history was that the implications of land reform and figuration of leader became important at a greater and lesser extent. As such, there were changes of highlights and evaluation of North Korean literary narration between 1959 and 1978 versions. If the 1959 version of literary history had contributed to establishment of KAPF literature as the tradition of North Korean literature based on Marxism-Leninism method, the literary history from the 1978 version was to make anti-Japan revolution literature the tradition based on the Juche method.
