필사본 고소설 <두씨정절록> 연구

국문 초록

<두씨정절록>은 국문필사본 고소설로서, 『동주열국지』의 백리해 이야기를 제재로 창작된 작품이다. 『동주열국지』에는 백리해의 주요 행적이 일목요연하게 서술되어 있는데, <두씨정절록>의 작가는 그러한 백리해의 행적을 대부분 수용하여 작품화했다. 특히 백리해의 정치적 행보와 관련된 행적은 거의 직역투로 수용하였다. 그러나 <두씨정절록>은 『동주열국지』의 내용에 대충 살을 붙인 정도의 작품이 아니다. 하나의 완결된 구조를 갖춘 작품으로 새롭게 창작된 소설이다. 이를 위해 작가는 영웅소설 유형을 활용하고 서사적 긴밀성을 강화하였다. 특히 두씨의 행적은 <두씨정절록>에서 거의 전적으로 창작된 부분인데, 주된 창작 방식은 편력 구조를 활용하는 것이었다. 그 편력 구조 속에서 작가는 정절 윤리와 세계 체험이라는 핵심 의미를 담아냈다. <두씨정절록>의 작가는 전승 설화와 시가를 폭넓게 수용하였다. 이것은 독자들에게 다양한 흥미와 장르 체험을 제공하기 위해서였다. <두씨정절록>에서 편력 구조 속에 지리를 서술하고 시가를 수용한 것은 조선후기 소설의 한 특징을 수용한 결과이다. <두씨정절록>은 1914년 이후에 창작된 것으로 추정되므로 신작 고소설에 해당한다. 그런데 신작 고소설은 대부분 활자본의 형태로 현전하고 있다. <두씨정절록>과 같이 국문필사본의 형태로 창작된 신작은 거의 존재하지 않는다. <두씨정절록>은 근대에 와서도 활자본이 아니라 필사본 형태로 고소설 창작이 지속되었다는 증거가 되는 작품이다.

영문 초록

This study investigated Dussijeongjeulnok, copying version ancient novel. Dussijeongjeulnok is based on Baekrihae's story in Dongjuyeolgukji. Dongjuyeolgukji described Baekrihae's story manifestly. The writer of Dussijeongjeulnok accommodated Baekrihae's whereabouts. The whereabouts of Baekrihae contained political actions, friendly relations, conversations. But Dussijeongjeulnok didn't accommodate whereabouts of Baekrihae all. Dussijeongjeulnok much contain new creation contents. Especially new creation contents is much contained on whereabouts of Mrs Du(wife of Baekrihae). Mrs Du made a tour of Chinese country in order to meet her husband. On that course, the writer emphasized chastity of Mrs Du. Mrs Du undergo crisis of chastity loss. But Mrs Du overcome them all. Also the writer emphasized one's world experience through errantry structure. A readers get knowledge information through world experience. The writer of Dussijeongjeulnok exploited heroic novel type. And the writer emphasized vertebration of narrative. Dussijeongjeulnok was formal fictitious completion structure. The writer of Dussijeongjeulnok inserted tale, poetry, song. These give readers interest and genre experience. Geography description, world experience, accommodation of poetry and song was related to ancient novel of late Joseon. The creation time of Dussijeongjeulnok is estimated after 1914's. Therefore Dussijeongjeulnok is newly created ancient novel. But new work is printed version ancient novel mainly. A copying version ancient novel is almost needy among new works. But Dussijeongjeulnok is newly created copying version. So Dussijeongjeulnok is valuable.
